I must need to add something to it.  The directions say the thumbnail will come up but I'm doing something wrong.

Hold on, i think youre doing it right. Their coding is different. see it starts with  <a href
llet me loooook..............

Some forums, sites etc are set up to not accept the <a href coding. I guess this is oneof them.
so
Yours is a bit more complex
1)type in [url
1b) =
2) copy the 'direct image link' line from under your photo, and paste it right after the =
3)put a ] right at the end of it.
4) Be sure there are no extra blank spaces through this whole thing K?
5)Then copy the 'Forums [IMG] Tag:' line and paste it right next
5b) then in the img code line read across. after the last/ and before the [/im type t-
6)then type [
7) and then /url]at the end

that should do it
with Triss' alteration this instruction now works Sheri.

Right now I am just testing to see if this works.  Not sure if it is going to or not.

Well I got it to work making the code look like it does when I post the PB thumbnail, but it sure is a pain.

Code:

Ok that is the code, I had to take out the

[ U R L =

from the beginning and the

[ / i m g ] [ / U R L ]

from the end so you could see it. (no spaces)

And I had to put this in a new post so it would not mess up the other one.

Basically.  They just do not actually give you that code on their site so you have to type the whole thing out.

clap   clap  clap  clap Looks like you got it all figured out.  Great job ladies.

Anytime you want to show the code that it takes to display something, like on the thumbnail image from PB, highlight the line that contains the URL and IMG tag and then click the button with the # .  That will display the code that it takes to make that item display.

I edited Triss's post to show you what the CODE tag does.

Do I need to put a picture on here that is a clickable thumbnail?
I don\'t have a picture place yet.  I will get one tomorrow to post a picture I want you to look at for me.

Yes, our dial-up members really appreciate the use of the clickables.  It's a recommendation, not a requirement, though.

In order to post a photo for us to look at you would need to have an account at one of the many photo hosting sites.  I listed 4 of the free ones here:

http://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/index.php/topic,10.msg1395.html#msg1395

There are some others I'm sure.  Lots of our members use Photobucket.

**Well, I see that Jim beat me to the answer, but I already have mine typed, so....

There's no "rule" here, about making your photos clickable, g_rice... it's just something that one of our members started doing, & now everyone else wants to do it, too! Clickables definitely make it a lot easier for those with dial-up connections, as the pages load faster, & from what I understand, they use up less bandwidth... but more importantly, we want to look at you too, whether it's a clickable pic or not! rofl1

As for a (free) photo hosting site, I think that most of us use PhotoBucket. (Sorry, but I can't remember the names of the other ones, but someone might come along here & list them for you, if you're "shopping" for a place.)

Please note that photos posted should not be larger than 640 X 480 & if you would like to put up a photo in your profile (Your choice... it doesn't necessarily have to be a pic of you), which will appear on your posts, it must be smaller than 65 X 65. (The system is set up to reject them if the size requirements aren't met.)

Hey Angie.  Avatars need to be 65 x 65 or less.  You can use one that is in your Photobucket account.  Copy the direct link from PB.  If it is too large, it just won't show up.  Of course you add that from your Account Related Settings tab in your profile.

Tami, I moved your question to this help topic that should answer some if not all your questions about including photos in your post.  If after reading this topic you still have questions, please PM me and I will try to answer them.
