as some of you know, Laura and I usually compete in growing Giant Pumpkins...we took the last two years off tho.
However, Congratulations goes out to Joe Jutras, who weighed this 1,689 MONSTER in at the Topsfield Fair GPC weigh-off in Topsfield, MA on September 29, 2007

I should of gone to the fair.. we drove by it on that day. The line was about 4 miles long and we didn't wanna wait!  :ScratchHead: do they have any flavor at that point or are they just for Jack o lanterns?
Just one of those puppies could keep everyone busy in the Kitchen for a week!!  :o

That thing could feed ya for a year. I'd imagine a gourd that big would be real stringy.

depends on how they are grown, chemicals, huge amounts of water, they get grainy, fibourous and bland, but organically, they are very tasty, but the largest organic pumpkin I know of to date was around 1300 pounds...this is extreme pumpkinage

It sure is.. I know it was on the news.

So do you grow them that big for the fun or for the food?  :SmileyFear: You would have to love pumpkins

:Wow: that is definitely a monster pumpkin.  I don't think I have ever seen one that big.  Looks like there are lots of big ones inside there.  Do you pick 'em with a fork lift truck?

Wow. That puppy puts mine to SHAME!

Phil, is it common for giant pumpkins to start growing, only to stop and turn to mush at about the size of a basketball? I have several vines this year, and each has done this more than once.

Triss, it probably would be big enough for a playhouse. :rofl1: On the other hand, I guess Cinderella could use it for a limousine.   :laughmao:
