Fire!
« on: Jul 30, 2007, 11:26:47 AM »
Well, not really a ghost site, but......
Theres an old hotel in town. Night before last it burned up. The only place that wasn't scorched and charred was the bar room. Ya' think the spirits that used to hang out there protected it somehow? I do.

That is a nice looking hotel, Wrennie!

Was it occupied at the time of the fire? What caused it to burn? Was the bar end the part that still has the roof?

Is there a story behind the hotel with the spirits? What kind of history does the building have? :SmileyQmarks:

That is a nice looking hotel, Wrennie!

All except for the lack of a roof over 90% of the building.  :smileyNo:

It would be interesting to know some of the history of the place.

The bar is in the center first floor. see the red awning with blue trim around the window, then a white trimmed window, the space between them is the entryway into the bar. I'll have to find out more of its history.

more pics. I cant find any history on line. Our local library is lame at best.
far side

back, flip side of the first pic, the little porch, lower left is where the bar had outside seating. I dont see orbs or anything anywhere.

That was such a beautiful hotel. :(

Wrennie, if you go to the courthouse, you can research it by looking at the deed, finding the owners, when it was built, etc. After you have names, you could do a little detective work to find out what kind of people originally had the place, how they died, etc.

Do you know the names of the orginal owners? Has the place been passed down from generation to generation or was it sold outside of the family? That place has to have some kind of history! ;)

It was quite a fancy place at one time. Built  in the mid 1850's.

Babe Ruth used to stay there in the summers.

I'm hearing dribs & drabs...

Wrennie, I find it very interesting that the only part that didn't burn was in the center of the fire. :ScratchHead:  Actually, it looks like it was a very hot fire, so you really have to wonder how it faired much bettter than the rest of the building!!!   :dunno:

I'm sure there is, Penny, and I'm anxious to see what they can find out about it.  ;)
