I went in search of a really good frosting recipe, because I'm not fond of most frostings out there. I found this one, and I really like it!

Buttercream frosting

6 Tablespoons butter, softened

3 Tablespoons whipping cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups powdered sugar

*food coloring of your choice*

Cream together butter, whipping cream and vanilla until smooth (3 or so minutes)

Add sugar one cup at a time beating until smooth

Add color if desired, mix well.

I have used that recipe, the cream makes all the difference in the world and you can add other types of extract for flavoring.  It is good with almond extract on a chocolate cake.  YUM!

That sounds like a great recipe.  What I despise about most buttercream is that they take shortening.  And that's all I can taste: shortening and powdered sugar.  I will have to try this one!

This sounds good, Sarah!   ThumbUp  I would think the whipping cream really makes a difference.  I've copied it and will try it.  It should be tasty with Mexican vanilla.   wink5 Thanks for sharing!
