Today it is Soft Parmesan Breadsticks with Italian Sausage and Tortellini Soup. I made apple crisp for breakfast so we'll have that for dessert. It's been icy raining all afternoon so something hot and steamy sounds about perfect for the weather.

Left over chili for me. Jonni just made herself a sandwich. John will probably pick something up on the way home unless someone fed him in the hospital. (He's transfusing)
Or he is well come to chili again.

Geesh, I don't know where you live, Sarah,
but you must have sent your lousy weather our way because that's exactly what we started getting along with some snow about 3:45 this afternoon.
Well, the road were nasty so I got home a lot later than usual and I didn't feel like messing with anything special to eat. I just wanted something hot and fast, so I opened up a can of chucky chicken noodle soup, fixed a grilled cheese sandwich and opened up a can of pineapple and had that with cream cheese! I know it doesn't sound like much, but it sure hit the spot and warmed my tummy!

Well, I did send it on.
Do you think I wanted it? Besides, 'tis the season for sharing, right? I live in KS and it all seems to have brewed over here and blew on east. Sorry.

You're right, Sarah, it is the Christmas season and it's a time for sharing, so thanks for thinking about me!
Actually, it did warm up a bit today so all the mess is gone, but tonight they are predicting some more freezing rain with the low temperature at 30 degrees. There's only a 50% chance we will get the precipitation, so maybe we will luck out this time. :Whirs:
It's Friday, so I'm baking some Talipia, opening a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese, and a can of asparagus. I'll also have some pineapple and cream cheese for dessert. I get pretty lazy with my cooking at the end of the semester.

Tonight I had some awesome Split Pea & Ham soup!
If you're looking for something to warm your tummy on a cold winter's night, check out Tonya's recipe in the soup thread! It's really great!!!

Tonight we are having some kind of chicken casserole. I'm not sure what all might be in it because a neighbor brought it over. The usual salad on the side and I will do up some garlic toast. An easy diner for getting the miunchkins ready for school tomorrow.

I think I"ll have some leftover clam chowder tonight. I made a big pot of it last night and it came out really good. I hate having to come up with ideas.

Well, I just made some spaghetti sauce today, so I'm having salad, spaghetti and cheese garlic bread. Actually, I had really planned on having Beef Stroganoff, but I guess I didn't plan well enough, since I forgot to take the stew meat out of the freezer last night.

We are having T-bones on the grill tomorrow night. I have them marinating now. We were supposed to have them tonight but didn't get back home in time. Marinated, by the time I cook them for almost 3 days.

Tonight is pork tenderloin, salad and veggies, just debating whether to BBQ it or into the oven?

I haven't even had breakfast yet. I don't have a clue what's going to be for dinner. Unless, it's the sweet and sour meatballs I was thinking about making yesterday. Hummmmmmmm, that sounds good.

Speaking of breaakfast, Duh, this morning I had one of the Ruby Red grapefruit I got at Farmer's Market the other day and it was very sweet.
I also made some scrambled eggs, toast with plum ham and a large glass of milk. Geesh, I haven't even starting thinking about dinner yet,
but maybe that's because I'm so full right now.

Tonight for us is London Broil that I am marinating in a southwestern marinade. Along with that will be red beans 'n rice and artichokes. For the kids mac 'n cheese and broccoli.

Well, quick and easy for us tonight was Tyson's Buffalo Style Chicken Strips with corn on the cob that was frozen out of our garden and leftover pasta salad. Yes, I know. Corn and pasta both are starchy, but had to eat the pasta salad to keep from having to throw it away.
It was a fast supper tonight for us, at any rate...

Geesh, Triss, I was really thrilled with my dinner until you mentioned London Broil.
I love London Broil and I've been watching for it to be on sale so I could stock up on some and freeze it. They always seem to put it on sale during the summer months, I guess it's because so many people grill it like I do.
Rita, I'm already thawing my beef in the refrigerator because that is what I had already planned on fixing for tomorrow night.
Okay, this may not top the dinner Triss made, but I fixed a ground round patty, twice-baked potato, and made a cheese sauce to put on some frozen broccoli and cauliflower. I've been hungry for apricots, so I opened a small can of those for dessert.

Sorry Patti, I was really in the mood for something we do not usually do and it turned out so good that I am going to have to add it to the usual menu.

Hey, Triss, it took me a very long time to learn this, but sometimes you have to take care yourself. You are special and so is your family, so this was a great idea!!!
Four years ago, a friend of mine asked me to go with him to this meat market in Troy (which is about 40 minutes from here) because he was buying some Filet Mignon for Christmas Eve. Well, would you believe, they had a "Christmas Special" for their customers and were offering them for only $5.99 a pound.
They would cut them right then and there any way you wanted them,
so I decided to a few for myself.
I told them I wanted each one to be a little over 1/3 lb., which is plenty for me.
Well, I ended up buying 12 of them (one for each day of the month), and I celebrated Christmas all year, since this was my Christmas present to myself! They ended up costing me a little over $30.00, plus tax, so I figured they were only about $2.75 each.
They were delicious and I'm so glad I did it.
Geesh, I wonder how much they are this year!!!

That is an awesome present to yourself and one that lasted a good long time too!
One thing I never stress about is how much meat costs. I save so many other places, that I buy good cuts of meat when we want it. I just never think about london broil as a meal...

I always buy the best cuts of meat, too, Triss!
Of course, I buy different cuts of meat according to what I'm going to be using it for or in. I will get ground chuck if I'm grilling hamburgers, but if I want a burger for dinner (e.g. Poor Man's Filet Mignon) I will go with the ground round and season it the same way I do for a steak, and I can fool the taste buds pretty well.
I usually buy a whole chicken if I'm making Chicken and Dumplings or Chicken Noodle soup; but, since I only like white meat I always buy the breast for any other chicken dishes.
Well, except for my Hot Wings and my Sweet and Sour wings.

Yep we do the same here Patti. The funny thing is that the kids have not yet grown into the nicer cuts of meat, so we will get the lesser ones for them that they will actually eat. Patrick is getting to where he likes the good stuff though cooked the way we like it.
Hamburgers sounds really good, might make those for dinner tonight.
