« on: Nov 26, 2007, 08:02:32 PM »
And here we go again... this is the place to show off all of your yarn projects.  Be sure and look back in the last topic for the last few projects we have been working on.

Triss, that afghan is so beautiful.  It's a wonderful wedding gift.  Your scarves are lovely too.  I don't know how you get so much done with your large family.  You must be busy all the time.

I work on them at night when the kids are in bed and Dan and I are watching TV.   I always have something here at my desk with me so when I have a moment I work up a row or two.  And it helps that I enjoy it so much.

Here are my latest.

This scarf I finished up the other day and sent it to my niece for her birthday this week.

And a new baby hat that I finished up tonight.

You all do such pretty work. If I could do the same, I would pick up my crocheting needle again... :)

Thanks Dianna.  I really do have so much fun with it.  I am working on a premie hat right now.   Hoping I can get it to work out right.

I am sure you can. I have first-hand knowledge of your work and know that you can accomplish whatever you set out to do.... :)

Well I hope so.  It seems a lil loose in the knit to me.  Will have to grab one of Lys' dolls tomorrow and try it out.  But I cannot see straight now to work on it anymore.

Finished up my premie hat tonight.  Here it is with the one I did yesterday.  I used the smallest (blue) Knifty Knitter for this one.

Did you use the red knifty for the larger hat? And thats newborn size? Cause my colorful one is probably about that size then.

Yes, I used the red one for the larger hat.

On the small hat, it is 4 inches across at the base and the larger one is 5 inches across.  Also the length on the premie hat was 5 inches before I took it off the knitter and tied it off.

OK cool, thanks. I don't have any "little' heads around here to try it on. And I wouldn't know what size mellon to buy to try it on. Could ya see me in the produce section trying to discreetly hold a melon near some babys head to see if it iwas the right size! :laughmao:

I do not really have anyone to try them on now either.  I guess I could use one of Lys' dolls.  I think newborns heads are around 20 inches around though if I remember correctly.  I could look it up in the kids scrapbooks.

Wrennie,  I was only able to find one of the kids head measurements in my scrapbooks and that was Patrick.  His was 14 1/2 inches around.  So I cut a string 15 inches and blew up a balloon to that size.  Here are the hats on my newest lil baby. :grinnnn:

I figure these will fit premies nicely since they are a little snug for this size and Patrick was 2 weeks late so his head may have been on the larger side.  I do want to make the hats a bit longer though, so the next one I am going to try will be 6 inches long instead of the 5 that the 2 smallers ones are.

This green one is the latest, done with 2 strands of thinner baby yarn.  I really had to stretch it to get it on and pulled down that much.  Hopefully the next one will look a bit fuller.

*edit*  I found this website that lists baby stats based on gestational age.  This would give you a great idea at how large to do a hat based on babies age.  Baby Stats

Thanks Penny.  I was able to make 3 in that color.  Working on some pink ones now.  As soon as the roads are passable, I am going to be taking them to the hospital.  Stress situations like we have had bring babies early and I think it would be nice for the mommies to have something like this for their lil ones.

Been working on hats like crazy, they are a nice break from my crocheting projects.

Here are my latest two colors.  I have a total of 14 done so far and once we can get over to the hospital, Lys and I will go and deliver them.

That is so sweet of you to give them to the hospital babies. And the hats are sooo pretty...

Thanks Dianna and Penny.  I am really having a lot of fun making these and giving my hands a break from crocheting.  Will start up another project after the first of the year.  Dunno what yet though.

I showed Jonni those shadow knits. She wants someone from here to make her one. (She wanted me to make her one but I haven't knitted for years and then only very basic)
