Be sure to let me know how you and Keith like the Beef Stroganoff.  Actually, you probably still could have used the Cream of Mushroom soup because you can hardly even see or identify the mushrooms in it.  wink5  My son, Keith, refuses to eat mushrooms because he says they are a fungus, but he always takes seconds and thirds of my green bean casserole.  rofl1  Geesh, he's even said, he loves the sauce I put on it!!!   wink5

I, too, don't like mushrooms, but I can deal with them in the cream of soup if it is added to a recipe. I do substitute sometimes, though...

Yes, the pinto beans cooked with fat back is normally a side dish, Patti, unless you just want to have cornbread with 'em. We use beans as a substitute for a meat dish when I don't feel like cooking anything to go with 'em. They are full of protein.... grinnnn

Keith said the stroganoff was VERY good.. He can smell and taste a mushroom from a mile away.. He says they smell and taste like dirt.
I actually couldn't really tell a difference using the Celery.. I do have to say I really like the cream cheese in it better than the sour cream.. Great combo! Thanks again I will add it to my recipes  clap

Keith is right. If I taste a mushroom in whatever I am eating, it seems like I have a mouth full of dirt... laughpound

We had D'Giourno's (sp?) stuffed crust pizza for supper tonight. Sure was an easy fix after washing clothes all day...

I'm so glad you and Keith liked the Stroganoff, I thought you would.  I do like the cream cheese in it better too.  wink5  It seems to make it a little smoother and creamier than with the sour cream.  I would have to agree with Keith that mushrooms do smell and taste like dirt, but they are still good and I love them.   yesssss

Y'all are gonna be grossed out and shocked, but we had fried squirrel for dinner last night(with fish and fried sweet potato slices). It was delicious! Tonight- I have no idea what we are having.....whatever I find at the grocery store......

My mother loved fried squirrel, Tonya. She, also, liked to stew it and make it into a gravy. I could never get over the thought of eating "Rocky" (remember Bullwinkle?). I am sure I ate it while I was young and didn't know it... laughpound

My kids saw her skinning a squirrel one time to eat for her supper and they both said, "yuck". By the time she got it fried, they ate more of it than she did. When Justin got older, he started hunting squirrel for her to cook up for them... grinnnn

I have a crockpot of large lima beans (butterbeans) going with a couple of slices of fatback for seasoning. I was going to use one of the hambones from our family dinner, but it wouldn't fit in the little, bitty crockpot that I am using... giggle

Lots of people eat squrrel around here. Fried, in a stew. I personally dont. But ya cant gross me ut that easily.

Tonight I had Caesar Salad, Prime Rib, Baked Potato, creamed spinach and fresh baked bread!  It was wonderful!!!  yesssss Of course, I went out to eat with a friend at my favorite restaurant.   wink5

Well, tonight, I was invited over to a friend's house for a wonderful dinner of Ham & Beans with cornbread!  yesssss  She made it with Navy beans and Pinto beans and it was delicious.  wink5

OMG- I love, love, love sourdough bread!! That and rye are my two faves! I love a good reuben sandwich on toasted rye bread. Ok- now my mouth is watering!!

Well, I'm going over to my daughter's to celebrate New Year's Eve, so tonight it will be a banquet of appetizers for dinner and throughout the evening!   Glee  I'm making my Almond Cheddar Appetizers, Spinach Dip (recipe I got from Jim) and the Noah's Ark Clam Chowder!  I love appetizers, so I can't wait to start in on them!!!  yesssss

Cracker barrel is a restaurant ...we have one here but I have never been.

You should try it sometime Sarah it really is good.. Do you do a whole chicken or just pieces?

Just the chicken breasts.  Apparently, the man I married doesn't eat dark chicken meat or anything with bones in it.  Good thing he wasn't born 75 years ago.  He'd starved to death.

And all peas are vile, nasty, revolting, disgusting, and pain old ewwy.  I hate peas.

There aren't any cracker barrel's around here.  If we ever go anywhere, I'll keep an eye out for one.

Sarah, there are a lot of the Cracker Barrel restaurants in Illinois and Missouri.  I know there's one in Kansas City, Missouri and I think there's one that's located near Topeka, Kansas!  I knonw you will love it if you can find one.  wink5  They have wonderful food and reasonable prices!   yesssss
