Email Tips and Tricks
« on: Jan 07, 2008, 09:30:31 PM »
If your using Outlook Express and your friends are complaining that the pictures you are
"FORWARDING" do not contain the pictures (white box, and little red x where the pic is supposed to be) then try this:

Directions:
1. Click on the 'tools' menu
2. click on 'options'
3. Click on the 'send' tab
4. Under the "Html settings" make sure that the send mail in 'html' is checked.
5.  click on  a button that says "html settings"
6.  make sure that 'send pictures with email' is checked.

that should fix it. let me know if it doesn't!!

Windows Live Mail is Microsoft's New Outlook:

In this program solve the problem by:

1. Click "options" from the drop down menu (I get to this from a little down pointing arrow, not too swift in my opinion)

2. Click the "Send" tab.

3. Scroll down and make sure that "Mail Sending Format" is "HTML"

4. click the "HTML Settings" button

5. Check the "send pictures with email" on.

6. Click Okay

7. Next click "apply", then "Okay" again.

DONE!!!  Peg

Question.
How do I go about Exporting Outlook Contacts to Access format?

Answer.

To Export Microsoft Outlook Contacts to Microsoft Access:

1. Open Microsoft Outlook.

2. Make sure you have the 'Contacts' folder selected (open)(note: this will not grab subfolders).

3. Click on File on the Menu Bar, then select 'Import Export'.

Select the following with the Import Export Wizard:

4 . Click "Export to a File" Click "Next"

5. Choose " Microsoft Access" Click "Next"

6.  Be sure to check to see 'Contacts' is selected. Click "Next "

7. Provide a name and location for the new Access database that will be generated, for instance, C:\Contacts.mdb.

note:  If the database already exists this will overwritten.

Click "Next"

8.  The action to Export will be started, click "Finish"

All your contacts will be Exported to the Access database.

I sent my friend an email and it came back to me, what is wrong?

Well, there are a number of things that can be wrong. But look at the email that was sent back to you and look for "error codes"

They are no big secret and really give you a clue!

1.   user is over quota
OK, WELL that's an easy one.. look at it and see where it says they are "over quota", that means she needs to log onto her email and download some.  She's reached her mailbox size limit. Until she empties her mail box... she's all full up.

Someone probably sent her some photos... :) She will be back on soon.  Just hang onto the note and forward it to her in a day or two. Might even want to let your friend know that Yahoo email has a free version and there are no size limits to your inbox anymore. Gmail's limit is so big, no one I know has reached it! And there are more of those kinds of services around: hotmail, bigstring.com, etc.

2. Bad destination mailbox address
The bottom line to this one is that the mail box no longer exists. It might be because the person closed it up him/herself, or it might be cause they didn't pay their bill and the company did it for them.

These are the two you will find the most often.  Other codes are explained here:
http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/codes.html

and here:

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3463.html

the codes might be worded slightly different depending on the program or service, but the codes remain mostly universal.
