My sister used to make jam with figs and strawberry jello. It tasted just like strawberry jam. She also made peach jam with peach jello, and it was yummy. She gave me the recipe, but I lost it. Do any of you happen to have it.

Bonnie, here is one I use with Rhubarb and Strawberry Jello, but you can use any flavor Jello you like.  I guess it might be similar for peach jam.

Rhubarb Jello Jam

5 c. rhubarb
3 c. sugar

Let stand 2 hours and then boil 10 minutes. Take off the stove and add a 3 ounce box of your favorite Jello. Stir and put in jars.

ScratchHead I have never heard of this but would you make the jello as the directions indicate on the box? Just wondering how you get the boiling effect..

Rita, I just mix the rhubarb and sugar and let it stand for 2 hours.  I bring the rhubard and sugar to a boil over medium heat.  Then I turn the heat down to low and boil on low (stirring constantly) for 10 minutes.  Then I take it off the stove and stir in the dry Strawberry Jello mix and put it in the jars.

I found a couple.

Peach Jam

3 c. mashed fresh peaches
3 c. sugar
1 sm. pkg. orange Jello

Cook mashed peaches and sugar together until peaches are tender. Add orange Jello and stir well. Place in jars and seal.

FIG-STRAWBERRY PRESERVES

4 c. figs, chopped
5 c. sugar
4 (3 oz.) boxes strawberry gelatin
1/4 c. water

Mix chopped figs and strawberry gelatin together in pan with sugar and 1/4 cup water. Cook to a rolling boil and boil 5 minutes hard, but keep it stirred all the time. Pour into jars and seal.

Thanks a whole bunch ladies. I think I can work with this. One more question, do you think that you could use frozen peaches instead of fresh?

So you are basically replacing the pectin with jello right?
