I saw a commercial for this and Adam started yacking that he never had one.  All the recipes I've seen aren't like what I grew up with.  I seem to remember something like chicken/turkey, apples, raisins, walnuts, and mayo and ya toss it on bread and makes a delicious sandwich!  Does anyone have a recipe that I could use?

Actually, Sarah, the only Waldorf Salad that I'm familiar with is served as a side dish the same way you would do with a jello salad.  ScratchHead  I usually make this for Thanksgiving and other holidays because it goes great with turkey and ham. Wink  It has  sliced and peeled apples, diced celery, red seedless grapes (sliced in half lengthwise) chopped pecans, and miniature marshmellows all tossed with Hellman's Mayonnaise.

Geesh, what you're describing sounds like the Chicken Salad Supreme sandwich they serve at one of the restaurants here.  It is made with (diced chicken, celery, apples, and green grapes), and chopped walnuts all mixed with mayonnaise, and it's served on a crescent roll.  It is wonderful!!!   Wow

Okay, Sarah, here it is!  I think you and Adam are both going to like this!  Wink  It's really refreshing in the summertime.   Whis

Chicken Salad Supreme

Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts cooked, cubed and chilled
2 stalks celery, cubed
1 large Jonathan apple, cubed
25 seedless green grapes (cut in half lengthwise)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 cup mayonnaise

Directions:
Mix the first 5 ingredients in bowl.  Then add mayonnaise and toss.  Serve on a Crescent roll.

Note:  I always start with the 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and then I'll add a little more if I feel it's necessary, just like when I make regular chicken salad.  This works best if the chicken, celery, apples and grapes are about the same size.

Well, sure glad I could help, Sarah! Wink  Let me know what you think about it when you make it!  I'm sure you won't be disappointed.  smile  Actually, I've never had it with walnuts in it because pecans is what the restaurant uses and I got the recipe from one of my former students who worked there and it said "pecans or walnuts".  Of course, when I've made it, I use pecans just like they do.  Wink  I'll probably be making it again when the grapes go down a little in price.   yikes

Tell me about it - I can't believe how pricey grapes are.  And to think that all summer long they are usually on sale for .99/lb.  Someone is making money!

Actually, late last spring, summer and early fall one of our stores would have either the red or green grapes on sale for 69 cents.   Yahoo  I love grapes, and I made sure to eat plently of them at that price, especially the red ones.   yesssss  Boy, somebody sure is cleaning up on them right now, so I'm hoping they will go down pretty soon.   Whis

This is officially going on my grocery list this week.  Grapes have finally begun the descent into normal-people budget levels!!

Hey, sarah, it's going on my list too because one of the stores has the red seedless grapes this week for 99 cents a pound!   yay_jump  Of course, another reason is that the weather has really warmed up here, so chicken salad would be very refreshing at this time.   yesssss

Although not crazy about it, Adam did like it--just not "a lot."  It's a great recipe and I did add about 2 T. more mayo too it and served on whole wheat with a salad.  It was soooo good.

Sarah, I'm sorry it wasn't a bigger hit with Adam, but I'm glad you thought it was good. Wink  I have a friend who really doesn't like this, but that's mostly   because she hates celery!  ScratchHead  I don't like it if it's too dry that's why I usually add a little more mayonnaise.  Funny thing you making this today because I just got some grapes this week and made this today too, so I would have something to take to school for lunch.  wink5
