Our high today was 78 and it's 71 right now.  Lots of blue sky with clouds.  We didn't get any rain here but it rained last night in Charleston.  Not expecting any rain this week so hopefully I will finish up the planting.

Geesh, Patty, it sounds like you have our weather and we have yours!   :rofl1:  It was a beautiful, sunny day and it got up to 74 degrees!  :yesssss:  This is the first nice day we've had in ages.   :yay_jump:

Well, it got up to 81 degrees today and it was gorgeous!   :banana02:  Right now, it's 71, so I have all my windows open and it feels wonderful!   :yesssss:  We've got some thunderstorms moving in tomorrow and Friday and the nighttime lows are going back down into the 40's, but that's okay!  I had my fun in the sun today!   :yay_jump:

Darn, it's only 41 degrees right now and it feels so cold after the warm weather we had last week.   :yikes:   Tonight they're predicting a low of 33 for us!  :SmileyFit:  Geesh, I'm wondering what happened to spring?

Patti, I sure hope your temps warm back up for you soon... :)

It was 71* just a bit ago, but since it has started raining, the temperature has dropped to 69. Sure wish the rain would quit. I wanna get back outside to play in the dirt! :grinnnn:

Looks like we have some rain on the way.  Today is supposed to be the last dry day till Saturday.  We have thunderstorms in the forecast for Thursday night and Friday.  They are saying dry on Saturday and with a high of 87*.  More rain, 60% predicted for Sunday.

Looks like it will be a wet Mother's Day!

Well, Dianna, it's 65 right now, but with the dark skies and no sun it feels a lot cooler to me.   :ScratchHead:  When I went outside earlier between raindrops and had to put on a jacket out.  Geesh, I'm off school today and was hoping the severe storms would hold off until later in the day, so I could get a a few things done in the yard, but no such luck!  :(  On the plus side, at least, everything will get a good deep watering and it was starting to need it.  ;)  Now that they're raised our sewer bill again, I really wasn't looking forward to getting the hose out!  :smileyNo:

Well, it's been raining off and on all day, it's cloudy, overcast and very nippy outside.  :SmileyFit:  It's 52 degrees right now and it dropped down to 44 last night, so my furnace came on.  :yikes:  Where's spring?   :ScratchHead:

"Where is spring" is right, Patti... we've gone from early spring to blistering August weather here! :hot: <~ This guy is no joke!

It was 90° yesterday, & was supposed to get up to 100° today... & I thought it would stop when it got to 101.5° this afternoon, but 45 minutes after it hit that mark, it was 102.5°! :yikes:

It's supposed to start cooling down tomorrow & level off back to the high 70's within the next few days, but it's too darned late for some of my flowers now, after today's  heat wave. :tickedoff:  I'm especially upset to see what has happened to my Vinca... & my Ixia is toast, after only ONE day in full bloom! :Crybaby:

(Here's a link to what they looked like yesterday.)
Where the pink petals have turned blue, it's all dry & crispy, like paper.  Without the flowers being able to mature, there won't be any seeds this year. :SmileyFit:

The same thing happened to most of my Creeping Phlox...

and my Iris are wilted, something awful!

I watered 4 times today, but was careful not to get blossoms of anything wet, cuz that would have invited major burn.  There was just no possible way to cool anything down. :crying:  The Iris would normally have gone for a couple more weeks, but I'm afraid that they're on their way out at this point.

The ONLY nice thing about the heat & all the watering I did, was that there are sprouts in the field now....

So, apparently there has been enough heat & moisture to germinate all the seeds I threw out there.

I was going to wait for a few weeks before I planted my basil, cuz it requires real warm soil, to germinate.  Uhhh... I think it's plenty warm enough at this point, so I'm headed out to scatter those seeds.

Yesterday, it was 52 and rained all day, but today was much better. :yesssss:  We had sun for the first time in weeks and it got up to 68 degrees.     Tomorrow it's going to be in the 70's with the possibility of some showers, but nothing heavy.  ;)  We are still staying on the cool side for this time of the year.   :ScratchHead:

Geesh, Patty, your flowers look like mine did last summer when we had the heat wave that burnt everything up.  :(  I'm sorry to see what happened to some of your plants, I know how frustrating that can be; especially, so early in the season.   :SmileyFit:

Well, it was beautiful weather this morning for the Memorial Day parade, but we have some more thunderstorms coming in later today. :yikes:  Geesh, yesterday there were watches and warnings all day for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and flash flooding, but fortunately, most of the wind and really severe weather missed us. :yesssss:  We did get a ton of rain and walking in my yard is like walking on a wet sponge, but it looks like everything is safe and secure, and there's no limbs to cut up, so that's good.  ;)

10 consecutive days of 90 or better so far.  It's starting to get really dry.  We are having some lightening tonight so I am shutting my computer down soon.  No rain, just lots of lightening and wind.

I'm bumping this topic back up, cuz we're back to hurricane season again.  I've been seeing some nasty footage about "Dolly" down by the Texas coast, & have been thinking about Jimmy, praying that he's not in harms way.

Check in, Jimmy. :kissies:

I was thinking the same thing the other day.  I guess we have all been just enjoying the weather instead of talking about it.  I do believe it was Hurricane "Dolly" though that came ashore on the Texas/Mexico border.

We had some lightening :lightn: and some rain  :rain3: last night.  I didn't look at the gauge this morning to see how much.  The past 3 days we have had triple digit heat indexes but today is supposed to be much cooler, around 92 for a high.  Yesterday the pool water was 92.  :hot:

This weather has really been something else. It is so hot and muggy here that it is hard to breathe when you are outside... :hot:

I have been worried about Patti since the bout with floods that her area had. :SmileyNailbiting: I hope Jimmy checks in soon to tell us how the hurricane/tropical storm Dolly affected his area...

We are having some more hot  :hot: days.  Today is 93 with a heat index of 104.  The humidity is 53%.  We've had about 2.5 inches of  :rain3: rain with :lightn: thunderstorms since Tuesday.  I saw the long range forecast this morning and it was good to see that the triple digits they had forecast for 3 days next week have been replaced with 95+.  That is still hot but not as bad as it could be if we got the triple digits.

It's about time to bump this topic.

We are having some weird weather this year.  Today is no exception.  When I left for work, we were under a tornado watch till 1:00PM.  It was cloudy but not raining yet.  About half way to work, it started pouring and has just now stopped.  The clouds are still kind of gray and moving fast.

It was 69* this morning when I got up and will be cooling off this afternoon.  Tomorrow will be even cooler and they are saying on Wednesday morning that we will have a freeze warning.  Supposed to get really windy this afternoon so they are saying that we probably won't get any frost tomorrow morning but it is going to be close to some record cold.

I guess it's a good thing that I haven't planted (haven't even got it tilled the first time) our garden yet.

So how is the weather in your neck of the woods.

The last three days have been beautiful and sunny here.  A very nice change for us after what seemed like weeks on end of rain and clouds.  The kids got so warm playing outside yesterday even though it was under 50 degrees that they asked for the pool.  We had to institute a new rule, no pool until it hits 70.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

A good rule. They could play in the pool here today. It is low 80's. (Not warm enough for me to want a pool though). The rest of the week is supposed to be rainy or overcast and cooler.  We need the rain.

The pool water is already 70* but that is too cold for me.  I like it about 84* and Dianna likes it about 88*.  I don't think we will be getting in the pool till about mid-May unless I get tired of waiting and add a solar cover.  They are said to raise the water 10* on a sunny day and left on at night will keep the heat from escaping.

We didn't get too much rain but it's still too wet to mow.  Was a good day to fly a kite here with 20 mph winds gusting to 35.  I guess that is what is bringing in the cold air so quick.  Tonight is supposed to get to 39* and tomorrow the high is forecast at 59*.  Big change!

Jim, Go get a couple of cheap hula hoops (now at Easter is the season and dollar stores sometimes have them. Put a black plastic trash bag over them (twisty tied)) and throw it on your pool to float. It raises the temps quite a bit. We used them here for our unheated pool. They are not too decorative but they work.

Thanks Tina, I may do something like that.  I remember reading something like that on the pool site that I frequent but had forgot about it till you mentioned it.  I'll have to go looking for it now to see what they said as well.

Looks like we're sharing weather again Jim. Your forcast sounds like a repeat of ours.  It's already down to 54 here. And suppose to be in the high 30s/low 40s tomorrow night depending on how close to the coast you are. Tomorrow's high is mid to high 50s...  I wan't spring back!

I miss my pool. I actually have a 28' round one but no place to set it up except on the drain field, and that would not be a good thing.  Oh well.  It'll be there whenever I can afford to have some trees cut down. lol.
Dear Lord, On this day, please wrap your arm around my shoulder and keep your hand over my mouth.  Amen
