When I was outside today, I noticed that some of my hardy geraniums are starting to bloom.   :yay_jump:  My pink creeping Phlox are blooming and look terrific!  My pink Weigela is covered with lots of buds, so it should be blooming before too long!   :yesssss:    At least, flowers know it's spring even if the weather doesn't show it.   :SmileyFit:

Patti, did you forget that we can post pics here? :thslap: (We'd rather SEE the terrific looking flowers you're claiming to have in your yard, you know!) :rolleyes1:  I have no idea what a "Weigela" is, but my Creeping Phlox is on its way out now, & the little Wild/Hardy Geranium that showed up in my yard this year has several flowers on it now.

April, your Iris is called "American Classic".  Mine just started opening this week, & just LOVE 'EM! :Yahoo:

(Unless it's around dusk, the lighting isn't right for capturing purple colors, so I had to edit my color on this one... still isn't quite right.)

The Turban Buttercups that I transplanted on the hill above the Iris last year, are taking off & starting to spread.  I love these little guys, & I need all the invasive soil holders I can get on that slope! :grinnnn:

Here's a closeup.

Dianna sent me some Iris bulbs in October (purple & yellow), & I forgot where I planted them, until they poked their leaves up.  Now a purple one has bloomed, & I'm looking for the package they came in, to find out how tall they're supposed to get, cuz they're coming up really short! :yikes:

If they don't get any taller than this, they're going to be perfect for the deck planters... (I put Daffodil bulbs in the planters last fall, & they turned out to be way too tall for the space under the deck!)

I can't wait for the yellow ones to get busy.  In fact, this is the only one that has even put up a bud so far.  They're gunna be awesome when they all bloom! :Yahoo:

My yard is waking up in so many places, & I haven't even started planting in the beds yet!  :yay_jump:

Weigela are just about the pretties plants that I've seen.  They are one of my favorites.  I'm looking forward to getting a varigated one for my yard.

Patty, I do believe that those are a miniature type of Iris. I can't remember the name of them specifically, but when I saw them I just knew you had to have them because you had told me about your and Keith's wedding colors being purple and yellow. That they were some type of Iris was a bonus....

Patti, I would love to see your pink Weigela in bloom! :grinnnn:

I have an amaryllis in bloom now. She sure is pretty...

These are some of my other pics of my Iris's. I also have some deep purple ones but no pics of them yet. Sorry they are all different sizes. They were taken with my cellphone.

Dianna, I don't think we have the right conditions here to grow Amaryllis outside, & I usually only see them around Christmastime.  Yours is awesome, you lucky duck! :Yahoo:

April, it looks like your cell phone takes better pics than my camera does, cuz I haven't found a setting on it yet, that'll show my Iris the color they really are, unless I mess with the hue, saturation & tone levels in my photo editor. :SmileyFit:  It looks like you have a really nice stand of Iris there... how big is that bed?

I decided to try my luck with the camera on video mode, to see if it would pick up the colors better, & this is what I ended up with:

I don't know why most of the video turned out looking like I filmed it through a sheet of water (maybe I was talking too fast!) :giggle: & some of the sound is choppy & words are cut off in places. :dunno:  (The word "Vinca" is cut off, as well as "Blue Star Creeper", at the end of the clip.)

Here's the one I made a little later in the day, that the audio turned out OK on, but the colors still don't show true.  (I guess it's my cheap camera.)

Anyway, I really am pleased with the way the hill above the iris row is taking shape!   I only have one section left to work on, but haven't quite decided what to put there yet.  I might move the Buttercups there, cuz they're same shade of yellow as the Basket of Gold shrubs (AuriniaSaxatilis), & I'd like to set them apart.

When I played these after posting, the audio was several seconds ahead of the video! :nutz: Is anyone else getting that on the playback?  It could be my computer, or it could be a glitch in PB's new (faster) video uploader that's still in Beta. :dunno:

Well, Patty, I've got all the pictures, and I'd love to share them!  ;)  I just can't get them off the camera and on the computer.   :thpullhairout:  Actually, I thought I told you about all the problems I was having, just a few weeks ago, whenever I asked you to send me the pictures of my Stargazer lily.  :ScratchHead:  Geesh, I must have the dumbest computer in the world because it can't find my camera and it's sitting on the desk right in front of the computer!   :rofl1:   :laughpound:  I can plainly see it, so I don't know why my computer is having so much trouble finding it.  :dunno:

Patty, those clips came through pretty good for me.  A few of the words were clipped but it was on track with what you were saying and showing.  The deep purples came out ok for me but the lighter ones did have the blue hue to them.

Have you tried taking a pic of the purples at night with a flash?

The clips played great for me Patty.  How do you like the fact that they are embedded in the forum now?  That is a result of the new video mod that I put in place of the one that only supported YouTube.   It's much easier to use and should be a bit faster because it doesn't open another window on your machine.

Here's the list of supported sites:

Dianna, I found the white Iris you sent me last fall! :yay_jump:

None of them were open the other day when I took the video, but it was this morning, then later in the day, LaRelle pointed out another one!  Thanx again! :kissies:

Patti, I think you need to swing by Walmart & get a "card reader".  You shouldn't need to download a driver for it, & it'll plug right into your USB port (after you insert the SD card from your camera).  That way, you won't have to rely on a program to recognize your camera. They only cost about $15-20, & heck... you & I both spend more than that on cigarettes! :wink5:  (I was going to buy one & send it to you, but then I remembered that I hafta be more careful with my spending for a while... & I'd rather smoke!)

April, it sounds like you have some really great Iris beds there! :Yahoo:   I can't wait to see a pic of them all in bloom!

Penny, I'm soooo glad that I don't have squirrels here! :tickedoff:  Sorry to hear about your bulbs. :Crybaby:

Jim, I love the new mod! I noticed that it didn't effect the old PB video's that were posted here, but I sure like that the new ones are marked with a "play" button, so there's no mistaking that a video is there. (And I like that they load MUCH faster!) Thanx for that addition! I also like the new video uploader that PB has, although I usually steer clear of Beta programs, cuz I have enough trouble with my machines, as it is.  It's a great addition, from what I can see.

Have you gone back and looked at the old videos?  Every one that I looked at in your baby topic now have "play" buttons also.  I ran a script that was supposed to take care of all that so if you find one that doesn't have a play button, let me know.

I like the simplicity of adding a video now also.

Gotta love all those pretty colors.  I thought your video's were great too.  I think the look you were concerned about was because of the movement of the camera, but it still looked good here and the audio tracked well too.  PB is getting their act together I guess.

Last night when I looked, I didn't see "play" buttons on those videos, Jim.  (That doesn't mean they weren't there, though!)   I'm going around taking off the "~Video clip~ (clickable)" notations that I put with all those video clips... so far, I haven't noticed any that haven't been picked up by the new mod.

So, I was moving too fast... while I was talking fast, huh? :giggle:  I guess I was trying to cover as much ground as I could in 72 seconds, cuz I know that's about 100MG. (PB's limit for the free uploads.)

Triss, I'll try taking a pic at night with the flash.  Thanx for the suggestion. :grinnnn:  These digital cams seem to have problems with some of the colors that have certain red tone densities, or something.... but my Lilacs are the same shade of purple as the American Classic Iris, & I dont have any trouble with color in the Lilac pics! :nutz:

Patty, I just love your iris.  Every time I see yours, I run out and check on mine.  No blooms yet but I know the first two are going to be in shades of purple.

I've been so busy that I haven't gotten any seeds in the ground yet, but I'm sure enjoying last years plants that wintered over.  They must be anxious for summer, cuz they're sure celebrating spring!

My short & tall Dianthus are going nuts already, & there's one lone Gazania that seeded itself from last year.  I'll let the California Poppy have its fun & fill in the bed, until I get some other flowers going there, then it'll get yanked out.  (There's just too much of it around here.)

The Blue Star Creeper just can't be stopped... I didn't realize that they made so many flowers!  My Scotch Moss is slowly filling in, & hopefully, we won't see any dirt there, by the end of summer.   (Gotta love the Steppables!) :Yahoo:

Keith's Rhodie must have liked the food I gave it last year after it bloomed... I've never seen so many blosoms on it! :yikes:  (Give it a few weeks & I'll be back to cursing it for the mess it's gunna leave.) :tickedoff:

I like the view from the deck, of the hill above the Iris row.  These California Poppies are waiting for the Ice Plant to bloom.  The colors look great together.

The only thing that's in the bed above the Ice Plant is a couple Calendulas from last year, & the alfalfa pellets I scattered there after I got the bed cleaned out last week.  I'm hoping to plant something there ASAP, but haven't decided what, yet.
