Cool charts. I use corn oil for most things. I do have olive oil and peanut oil in the house most of the time too. I use butter for most of my saute-ing though. I really like the taste it adds to most things.

I, uh, use canola oil for frying.  Why is there a dash on it on the chart for that?   giggle

I use canola oil around here. I do have some peanut oil that we bought to fry the last turkey, but I ended up baking it, instead...

Wrennie, this is some great information that you shared with us. Thank you!

(The only time I have ever tried to cut up a chicken, I had about 15 pieces... rofl1)

I think canola oil burns (and changes chemistry) at high temps. It is usually used in a mixture of oils for  low transfat frying. I just do not like the taste of canola very well.

I haven't noticed a difference in the taste while using canola. Of course, with me taking Chantix, it does mess up my taste buds. Nothing really tastes good to me anymore...

We still have a lot of peanut oil in the pantry that needs to be used before Thanksgiving. Does it taste "odd" when you use it for regular cooking?

I lends a very slight pleasant peanut taste to foods, Dianna. Most oriental  and Indian cooking uses it. Try it. You might like it.

Thank you, Tina. I will try it. I just went to look and we have three gallons of it. Roll Eyes I like some Oriental foods, but have not tried Indian...

No sense in it just sitting in my pantry and taking up room... grinnnn

Great charts!  I will be referring to these ones, I am sure.

Peanut oil is great for chicken, lends a very nice flavor and does not overwhelm it at all.
