This isn't a bee... it doesn't have wings. I hope it's not an ant, cuz it's pretty good size! yikes
     
All I know is that it's water resistant.  I discovered it after Lil' did... she was watering it with her little watering can, saying "bye bye, bug", as it kept walking around! giggle

Any guesses?

That is a "velvet ant", which is actually a type of wasp. There other name is "cow killer ant", because the sting is said to hurt enough to kill a cow.  yikes They are not aggresive though, as you witnessed.
