How do you set the default operating system?
« on: Sep 02, 2008, 03:11:35 AM »
I have formated my computer, which is a HP Pavillon not sure on the model number but, it did come with Windows XP Home Edition with a seperate modem for recovery, the question I have Is: After formatiing and re-installing Windows pro when I boot up it comes to a screen that actually ask me which version do I want to run... but the home edition doesnt work is that a branded processor or is there a way to get rid of that?

I'm not sure what you are asking.  Did you completely remove the home version?  If you reformatted the entire hard drive it shouldn't be there.  If your drive was partitioned into more than one drive then it may be that you formatted only the one partition and left the others intact.

A modem for recovery?  Most of the time you get a recovery disk.

After formatiing and re-installing Windows pro ...

This is a re-install of XP pro or the initial install?

Our XP Pro asks the same question all of the time.  I just click the one we use and let it keep going.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

There is a way to set that to a default.

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery

From there you should be able to pick a default operating system.
