With all the recent interest in bread baking, I thought now would be a good time to start a bread baking club.  banana02

Every 2 weeks I will post a new recipe for bread, and then we can all try it out, and talk about what worked for us, or what did not. idea

Who wants to join me?  goofy

For those who may be hesitant to join in, we will be starting with very simple, basic recipes and we would love to walk through it step by step. There is nothing like bread fresh from the oven!  542

The first one you chose looks great Sarah.  I would be happy to walk step by step through the English Muffin bread for one of the early recipes as well since it is also an easy one.

Sarah, I stickied the Bread Club and the first recipe topic so they will stay at a prominent spot on the list.  Feel free to unstick and stick when you post a new recipe.

That bread sure sounds good!  ThumbUp

Now that's what I was talking bout the other day with you BC, now you are starting a bread baking club.  Good for you and better for everybody else.  I'm not going to say I will join in the baking every week but I'll follow along and sometimes I'll try something.  Mowing and weedeating every day takes it out of me most days but I need to try to get back into baking.  Whole wheat bread at the store here is 4.19 a loaf less it's on sale for 3.35.  That will make you want to bake.  Sure gonna swipe your recipes tho when I really like em if you don't mind.

Thank you Jim!  grinnnn  You know, there is no reason YOU couldn't attempt them!  BigGrin

notherdigger, you may swipe any and all the recipies. I hear you on the bread prices, plus the stores here in town only carry the basics, and when I want a specialty loaf, it's either I make it, or I drive all the way to Eugene, and then pay big bucks for it.

I love cinamon and raisin bread and would love a tried and true recipe hint, hint lol.

By the way I'm getting small grained sour dough rather than holey is that what I should be getting or am I off somewhere?

Does anyone have a good braided bread recipe?  I'm interested in doing this but I'm not sure if just any recipe will work with it.

I tried it with one of the loaves of sour dough bread but I wasn't happy with the rise.

I have plans to make the buttermilk bread recipe today.  Should be good with the baked chicken I am planning for dinner tonight.

Thank you barleychown.

Good luck Triss.

I went to town today and did everything but go grocery shopping.

And tomorrow is packed with activities so I won't be doing it then either.  Maybe Monday.

I found out that either an egg or a milk bread recipe is best when braiding bread.  So I'm going to try it with the buttermilk recipe and see how it turns out.

The article I found mentioned that sour dough and wheat breads didn't lend themselves to braiding all that well.  Live and learn.

I'd still love to find a good Cinnamon and raisin bread recipe hint hint.

Oh the buttermilk white bread turned out fantastic.  No more egg washs though, it turns the crust to dark for me.

I felt the same way, so my next batch I brushed the loaf with butter straight out of the oven. Fantastic!

Definitely, the butter trick makes the crust yummy.  I can eat it without having to put my teeth in.

Are we going to take a break during the holiday season or plow right through?

I'd like to do some breads for some of the church members.  That is if I had a day when I am energized.

This work one day and take two off just isn't working for me.
