fortunately I like wood...
« on: Sep 15, 2008, 06:46:23 AM »
I decided to polish the mantle today and guess what I discovered...yep it needs work.  There is always something isn't there?  The finish is worn right off the middle of the mantle and there is either a water or heat stain near the middle.  You know the wood is black in color.  So it looks like I'll be sanding that down and poly'ing it too.  But not right now I have rubber arm syndrome.  lol

It seems like with a house there is always something.  At least that is a something that can wait since it is not right out there in the open.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

that's true.  But it sure is going to make a mess when the time comes.

Just remove the mantle, then you can refinish it and put it all back up.  Shouldn't have to refinish it in place I wouldn't think.

I wouldn't have a clue how to take the mantle off.  But I do know how to add another layer of wood to the mantle if the stain doesn't come off.
