Green Roof
« on: Nov 07, 2008, 09:13:45 PM »
I've been googling green roofs. I just think that it would be so neat to grow stuff on top of your house.

From all that I have read it has some good benefits as well as being neater than grits. It really makes the home more energy efficient. It even makes the life span of the roof longer.

In one of the magazines that I was looking at someone had made a blue bird house with a green roof of sedum. That was pretty neat, and it looked easy to make. I just gotta find it again.

Check out some of these pictures.

That is wicked cool!  I would love to do something like that on the roof of a shed or kids play house.

I am imagining picking tomatoes.
You could put a goat up there. That would settle the mowing thing.
I would seriously consider something like this if I were doing new construction.

Cool. When I win the lottery I want to rebuild my whole house with solar power. But a green roof on the garage would be cool!

I saw on one of the sites a green roof on a dog house. I thought that was pretty neat as well.

There is a bio-fuel station in Eugene that have a green roof. I have really enjoyed watching it from season to season.

Even during the downpour season, it seems to do just fine.
