What are your favorite food smells?
What smells bring back fond memories?
For me, my favorites are bacon cooking, coffee brewing, and cinnamon.
The smell of cookies baking brings back memories of baking with family as a child. The smell of a roast in the crockpot brings back memories of Grandma's house.

I love all of those smells. I also love the smell of a turkey roasting more than the actual eating of it (and I love turkey)
I will add vanilla to your list. And chocolate. Or any combination therein.

Some smells bring back fond memories but are not my favorite food smells -
Country ham sizzling in the skillet smells strong but sure brings back the memories. My Dad always cooks breakfast at home and that was one of his favorites for breakfast.
Always loved the smell of biscuits cooking in the morning, and coffee brewing.
My Granny always made me home-made apple pies and they sure smelled up the house when she cooked those.

Gingerbread cookies baking... reminds me of every Christmas from the time I was a child... it is a tradition.
Coffee... oh yeah. That is the best!

Fried chicken cooking, cookies baking, pinto beans simmering. All of them remind me of my grandparent's house as a kid!

I knew reading this topic would make me hungry.
Just add some cornbread and I'm ready!

Coffee for sure, bacon, apple pie. One thing I can't stand to smell is chicken when it's being boiled and collards, um but I sure love those collards.

The kids when they come out of the bathtub, all clean and fresh. I love snuggling with them when their hair is damp and I can still smell the fragrance of shampoo and soap.

Yes, I thought the same thing. I had to scroll up to make sure it did say "food". Because clean babies is one of my all time favorite smells too. I am lucky to have a 'forever' snuggly baby who still uses baby shampoo and wash.

Ok. Back to the OP topic. My favorite food smell would be spaghetti sauce cooking in the pot that my momma made. I loved her spaghetti and have never tasted any as good since...

Strawberry shampoo is food for the nose, Dianna. No hijacking involved.

I like fruit scented shampoos, too, Tina. They make me hungry, though...
I, also, like to smell beans cooking in the pot. Comes from the days of being in my momma's kitchen, too.
Do you make homemade sauce, Triss?

I sure did Dianna... most of the time I do, only when in a great rush do I use a jar.

And I bet you tweak that jar so it is your very own recipe. I love the smell of pizza. The yeast bread rising with all of the toppings sizzling.

I am about to starve now!

No, when the kids want Ragu, Ragu they get.
Only if you are pregnant Dianna... that was the only time I could ever get Dan to make late night food runs.

If I were pregnant, Triss, Jim and I would be able to afford a chef to cook for us because I would sue the doctor that gutted me...
I love to smell a ham in the oven during the holidays. It makes me feel festive...

Mmmmm! How could I forget ham? Bone-in, basted with a pineapple/brown sugar glaze so it gets crusty around the edges...
Also, a really good beef and barley soup simmering away.
