Woohoo the turkey is in the oven. This year I'm doing the stuffing seperately. I'm not sure whether it will be store bought or from scratch yet. It will depend on my energy level. I've been watching the Barefoot Contessa and it's tempting to go all out but the mess holds me back.
So how are you and your turkey doing?

I got my Turkey in the oven about 15 minutes ago. Timer set, baster out by the oven. Giblets and neck just starting to bubble with bay leaves, spices for turkey gravy later.

I don't even have to start my turkey until around noon. We aren't having dinner until 4 and it's a small turkey. Plus anything that could be done ahead of time was done yesterday. So my "rush" isn't anywhere close. None of the company is even here yet.. I kinda like having a later dinner. I am NOT a morning person...

I am definitely a morning person. My bird is halfway through his cooking time and the turkey giblets are almost reduced to half. I'm using them to flavor the dressing since I didn't do it in the bird. Wish me luck with that.

No turkey here. I do have some of last Saturday's turkey and gravy defrosting on my counter and some NY strip steaks as well. Jonni will be cruising from neighbor to neighbor, grazing so may end up not being too hungry for steak. We will see and decide that later. I can always save the steak for tomorrow.
I will be purchasing anothe turkey this weekend to make more turkey gavy and some soup as well. These are going down so well right now.

30 minutes until the turkey comes out and then I'll put in the stuffing while the turkey rests. Yummy.
I suppose I could put on my pants and go out and get the cranberries lol. I'm such a lazy puss.

I have my turkey stock ready to go when it comes time to make gravy. After the giblets were done seasoning the gravy, I finely chopped them and they will go into the stuffing. Pumpernickel bread is slowly raising on the counter next to the oven, sweet potatoes have been boiled, smashed, sweetened, and are almost ready for the oven (waiting on pecans from the store -- used all of them on accident on my pecan bars yesterday). The bird should be out in about an hour. Regular potatoes are almost done boiling.
Yesterday I made the pumpkin pie (last minute addition to the menu thanks to Adam), pecan pie bars (because someone had to have his pie made first and I broke my other pie plate in January and still haven't replaced it), and peanut clusters. I also boiled my eggs for deviled eggs (another last minute addition thanks to hubs) and have already got those finished up and waiting in the fridge.

Are you sure they are still there? Those are almost always the first to go in my house.
Your dinner sounds lovely, Sarah. You need to add a pie plate to your Christmas wish list. I only have a couple of glass ones but dozens of metal.

The turkey was wonderful and the Sour Dough Stuffing was really good as well. I couldn't pass up using the sour dough for that. Next time I'll have to make sure I have 2 loaves of it for the stuffing. That way I'll have enough for turkey, cranberry and stuffing sandwiches for a few days. Love those.
I know what you mean about the deviled eggs. I can go through those really fast and I'm the only one here.

The eggs were finished up at lunch today but they were the first thing gone!

It takes longer to make deviled eggs than to eat them.

So true. Although I didn't get them on T-day I did get them the day after. Juanita made them for me.
