PHotography: More Oregon Pics
« on: Nov 24, 2008, 05:35:15 PM »
Hi All,
Clyde and I discovered a back road yesterday that went from Canyonville (Oregon) to Myrtle Creek.  We made a great big circle…and investigated some more new to us
Logging roads.

Anyways, I didn’t get a lot of pictures.  But, I thought I’d share what I did get.

I guess, I’ll tell ya  a little about the route.  It starts in Canyonville.  You follow the signs like you are going to Crater Lake. You drive out until you get to Tiller and then you make a left onto the road that takes you into Umpqua National Forest.  Follow that road about 10 miles and then you turn onto Country Road 18, which is just a gravel road.

From the start of County Road 18 it is 37 miles of gravel washboard road, where you pretend to be a goat on the sides of mountains until you reach Myrtle Creek.  :dunno:

Out there in the middle of no where is an old historical school site.  We didn’t stop.
Old gold mines, and a place where the state is trying to find or grow genetically superior race of trees (their words not mine!)

Anyways, here are some pics for you to enjoy.  The last one is of some Elks we saw on the road.  I tried to get a picture of them… but they were running away.  The picture is not too good.  Sorry   :SmileyFear:  Peggy  :banana02:

How are you?  I'm great!  Glad to see you! Hope we meet again!

As always some great scenic shots, Peggy.  Nice try on the elk.  I bet they are quite challenging to get when they are running.

Awesome shots.  I love those panoramic pictures.  I sure wish my camera did that.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

Photo taken today, about 15 miles from home, close to the Smith Summit, in Azelea, Oregon.
Elevation, approximately 2020 feet.

Enjoy!  Peg   :flower:

What a beautiful photo!  I do miss the big beautiful trees of the northwest. The trees here just don't compare!
Dear Lord, On this day, please wrap your arm around my shoulder and keep your hand over my mouth.  Amen

There is so much clear cutting here in Oregon, that even the big trees are not as big as they used to be! But, they are very beautiful, no doubt about it!
