Yes, it's all going to be chopped up how we like.  I think Adam could live off bacon, I at least need a fresh, homegrown tomato with mine.  I don't know how long it will take us to eat a side of pork.  We got a half of a cow several years ago -- when I was prego with Lindsay (gosh, that's 5 years ago!!) and it lasted the three of us a year.  Adam was working and it was such a pain to load that 150 lb cow from the front driveway, around back, onto the breezeway and into the deep freeze.  I'm so making Adam do it this time!!

Who doesn't love bacon.  It smells good and tastes good.  Aww the flesh of a pig.  Are we really what we eat?  Oink.

I have a quarter freezer chest.  I couldn't fit 1/2 but I'm tempted to see if they can break it down to a quarter.  There are several places that do that around here.

They sell 1/4 around here, so start making room!  grinnnn

We buy our beef like that. It's nice to know where your meat has been, and that it's not been injected with things to make it look more appealing while on sale, or irradiated.

I'll have to see how it goes but it sounds like a good idea.

I was talking with a friend today (someone who waited to have children and is in a much higher tax bracket than I) and she was telling me that she spends $200 a week on groceries for her small family.  I about threw up.  Shocked That's $800 a month on groceries!!  She only has 3 kids from 6-2 years old.  I'm still recuperating from the shock.  What I spend in an entire month is less than her weekly amount.   shock shock

Yep, my family of four is about $200 a week. But that is much more than just groceries. It is gas for the running around we do. And a lot of the clothing budget is in that $200 spread out throughout the year. Birthday gifts come mostly from that and things like that. So it isn't all strictly groceries. I also stockpile for a rainy day with that. If our income suddenly stopped, we could still eat for a couple of months.
