Let's see, my hobbies, I got lots of them.

Amateur Radio

Computers

Carpentry

Vegetable gardening

The first 3 are quite expensive as most hobbies are, so I do the last one more than any of them.  I need to use the 3rd one so I can get my antennas and stuff back up and get on the air again.  It's just a matter of time.

Yep, geez, I left out ghost hunting.  I'm sure we will all be adding to this list.

Reading too.  Dianna got me back into reading.  I had just about quit except for technical articles, magazines and the newspapers.  I picked up one of the John Sandford "Prey" series books that she was reading and I was hooked.  I've read them all now.  She thought I would also enjoy the Patricia Cornwell "Kay Scarpetta" series and she was right.  I'm just starting "Trace" which is one away from the current last one in the series so far.

We've been talking about a camping trip to Edisto, but nothing definite yet.  It's been years since I've been camping.  I bet it was back in the late 80s.

So how about any hobbies that just grab your interest for a short time and then just kind of fade away?  Anyone had some like that?

My hobbies?

Reading anything and everything
Karaoke (It's the business, so gotta enjoy it!)
Line Dancing (though I haven't been able to do too much of that lately)
Gardening (flowers or vegetables...)
Landscaping our lil' corner of the world
Ghost-hunting
Geneaology (though I haven't worked on that too much yet)
Learning new things

Aunt Bonnie does a good job of bucket carrying. Don't let her fool you. My favorite song for her to sing is "If You Ever Have Forever In Mind". With the exception of Vince Gill, she does it better than anyone I have heard sing it out at karaoke. We had her sing it at our wedding...

Hobbies that I used to like are...

Cross-stitching
Crocheting

My eyes have gotten too old for me to really enjoy them now...

Dianna....I can't believe I forgot to list gardening....well DUH...LOL

Geneology is another one. I have tracked part of my maternal line all the way to the mid 1700's. On my Paternal side I have only gotten back 4 generations, because they were immigrants from Ireland and Germany.

Sewing is kind of a hit and miss with me. I used to do it alot and still have everything I need to do it,just don't have the "gumption".

I guess you could say that computer games are also a hobby of mine. I play quite a few of them.

I love to learn stuff too. I watch Discovery,The History channel, etc when I watch T.V. Much more interesting to me than your average weekly series. I also like to read "factual" books, right now I'm reading a book by a FBI profiler that takes you into the mind of Serial Criminals. It gives an in-depth look at the way they think, why they act they way they do and how psychological clues are used to catch them. Nostrodamus fascinates me.

Jim,I'm well known to get all excited over something new....for a couple of weeks and then I just lose interest, lol

No wonder Dianna and you get along so well.  You both love to read the same stuff... :D

Let's see, I've had a few hobbies that come and go too.  I went through a spell of collecting baseball cards when my son was about 9.  We did that for about 2 years.  I probably still have about 40,000 cards stacked in a closet.

Genealogy interested me quite some time ago.  I had both my lines back to the early 1800s, even had it all in a DOS program called PAF.  Compiled it all into a small notebook and placed it in the library of the county that most of my ancestors came from.  Then the hard drive crashed and I was not able to recover the data.  I still have a copy of the information with lots of updates, just need to get enthused again and get it all input.  My brother got the bug and I was hoping he would get it done so I wouldn't have to do it again.  I still have lots of old letters that my Dad's uncle found that I need to try and translate and put together another book, including those.

While stationed in California I picked up metal detecting.  When I eventually moved to Ft. Walton Beach, FL I brought that hobby with me and spent numerous hours searching old home sites on and off the base.  Now the detector is in the closet and don't get brought out unless we lose something metal.  ;D

See, I've had my share of hobbies that come and go...probably is a list that I will continue to add to.

G-mom, I can't believe you forgot gardening after winning that award for the prettiest yard a while back!  ;D

Would that book happen to be " I Have Lived In The Monster" by Robert K. Ressler and Tom Shachtman?  :D That was a good read....

I love murder/thrillers. Fact or fiction, doesn't matter to me. I used to love the Harlequin Romances when I was younger but got bored with them. A good murder mystery keeps me guessing and the factual ones intrigue me...

Hi you guys! I guess I should start my hobbies with gardening, so I don't forget!  ;D  I also love to read, fish, learn, surf the net. I love to learn new things like G-mom said. I have always been into ghost stories(even though I get spooked easily) and would like to check out the rumors of witches covens in my hometown in Tn.

I look forward to reading up and learning more about the "Spirit" world.
