What have I gotten myself into?

WWW
« on: Jul 17, 2009, 11:29:40 AM »

Here we are again, coming up on the 3 year anniversary.  Anyone have any ideas on something special to do other than maybe schedule an anniversary chat in the chat room?

Our anniversary date is actually 30 July but we could possibly have the chat on Friday night the 31st.  Any other ideas?  Times?

Once we decide I will add the event to the calendar and send out an email announcement.

Yep, it sure has.  Remember we started out on the Xsorbit board.  That company went under and everyone that had paid or free forums on their servers, lost them.  Seems the owner was involved in some kind of mortgage scam or something.  Anyway one of the SMF team members now owns that domain.  I don't know if he is going to try and bring it back or not.

Dianna said we might want to do the chat on a weekday night because lots of folks get busy on the weekend.  Doesn't really matter to me.  We just need to agree on a date and time.

So far not much response to this suggestion.  Is Friday a good day?  What time frame?  Any other suggestions?

Testing 1, 2 .....is this thing working?

Jim, I am wondering if maybe Thursday would be a better day/night for this. A lot of us do things with our family during the weekend and might not be able to get on Friday or Saturday... ScratchHead

We could chat on two nights... SmileyQmarks

2 nights not necessary if you are thinking just of me... Thurs. is fine.  My only thing is that it needs to be no earlier than 6 p.m. central time or I can't participate. I'll not be home from work yet.

We can make it Thursday evening if that is agreeable to everyone.  How about 9PM Eastern until...

That's a bit early on the west coast but we will hang around till about 11PM which should give everyone that wants a chance to pop in.  The chat hasn't got much use lately so if you haven't been in there you might want to give it a try to make sure it still works for you.

I'll send an email later this week as a reminder and maybe we can break the record from last year.

If anyone has any other suggested times, now is the time to speak up!

I'll try to remember whatever night you choose.  Remembering is my issue.

I'll want that email reminder. I can barely keep the days of the week straight.

I'll send out an email announcement probably tomorrow evening sometime and then a reminder on Thursday a couple of hours before the event.  I need to put it on the calendar as well.  I'll do that now.

The chat went well last night.  We had about 8 members at one time.  A good time was had by all.

Thanks to everyone that participated and I realize that the difference in time can affect one's ability to participate.  We said last year that we were going to try and schedule some chats throughout the year but to my knowledge we didn't make that happen.

Of course the chat is available anytime 2 people want to talk.  And if someone wants to put together another chat at some different time with a specific topic, etc. then please do.

I'm sorry I missed it.  I meet Diane or Tina or both there once in a blue moon.  I like that area.

It works pretty well, once you get everything set like the background and the text size and the text color.  The only things is if you don't go in about every day, it goes back to the defaults.  Also we found that it is best to change your options, save them and then go out and come back in so things don't get messy.

There is a new version of FlashChat but it had some real problems the last time I looked at it.  I'll look again when we upgrade the forum.
