Ok here is my computer question. The computer was on while the wife was moving boxes into the new house, the electrcian came to convert our power over to our name, He turned power off, and the back on without asking if we had anything that needed to be turned off. When the wife came in and saw the computer was off, she turned it on and couldnt get passed the screen that said "INTEL" and the keyboard would not work, we tried 2 diffrent keyboards and got no results...... the computer was plugged into a serge protector power strip.

Is there anything to do to fix other than shooting it?

It is a HP Parvillian about 4 years old, it also has onboard sound. :help:

Do you have the restore disk?  It could be that the off/on corrupted the disk boot sector and the restore disk will fix it.  If you don't have the restore disk, you may have to take it to a repair shop to see if they can do something with it.  There is also a possibility that the off/on caused the hard drive heads to crash onto the disk surface and if that is the case, a new hard drive is about all that will fix it.

Thanks for the reply Jim,Thats what I was thinking also, but I think I will just build me another computer and just put that hard drive in. Soon as I get back to work I am just going to buy a new computer.
