Bathroom Ceiling Painting
« on: Sep 21, 2009, 07:46:29 AM »
I have to be able to visualize something before I can manage it and I'm having a problem figuring how I'm going to paint the bathroom ceiling.  The problem is as follows:

1.  There is trim on the ceiling so I need to tape it before painting.
2.  The ceiling is sloping.
3.  There is only a little space for me to stand on, on the counters and bathtub rim.
4.  I can't get a ladder where I need to go to do the taping or cutting in.
5.  I don't dare use a tarp so how do I not get the paint all over the place?

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.

can you use a step stool instead of standing on the rim or counter?

how about towels instead of a tarp.  They won't be slippery.

Hmmm, that is a problem, is there anyone near by that would come and do the taping for you?
If you are standing on the edge of the tub or the sink....be careful Tammy, you would be better to stand there barefoot, so the socks wont slip!!!

Check around and ask, there's no harm and someone might be willing to come and do it for you.

definitely not towels and your right I'll be barefooted.  And no there is no way to use a ladder because the sink/tub surrounds would be in the way.

I hate to think of you doing this Tammy, is there someone that you could ask, and if need be, offer them a few bucks to do it.

I hate to think of me doing this too.  That's why it isn't done yet.  But there is no way I would let someone else take this kind of risk.  I can just see the home insurance rates if someone fell.

1. paint the trim the same as the ceiling
2. paint with a smaller roller
3 + 4. Use a small stool
5.Ceiling paint washes off with soap and water..no mess....OR....

You just need to come pick me up for a visit.... :)

Pack your bags Sunflower.  That sounds like the best idea yet.

Do not do this alone in the house.
