We took a different road home from Wal-Mart's this afternoon and found a small, isolated cemetery. We passed it, but I had Jim turn around.

There were no "No Trespassing" signs so we wandered around a bit. You can tell someone takes care of it. It looks to be a family cemetery in the name of Bochette. I found this link for it on the net:

http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/orangeburg/cemeteries/bochette.txt

I think it would be interesting to find out more about this family and get permission to go out there at night to "see what we can see".

Some of the stones were really old and interesting. There were a few out there that served on the Confederate side of the Civil War.

I'm glad we turned around.  There were 3 CSA graves.  I couldn't read much on the gravestones but the link Dianna posted has some of what was engraved on the stones.  This cemetery is very close to the main road, right near the intersection of 301 and 47.  Not sure how successful an outing would be because of the traffic.

There was a nice marble bench and a gazebo with arbor top so it was obvious that it was being taken care of.  I wish I had of had my camera with me.

It was right off 301 (Five Chop Road) and where you turn to come through Elloree.  I thought it was 47 but I saw a map that said different.
