That cuddle blanket is an awesome idea. It even makes me want to look for some yarn now... :giggle:

thank you both.  i really like how fast the cuddle blanket worked up, once i figured out what i was doing.  now, that said, if i were doing it over, i would do 2 things different.  i'd use a lighter weight thread (i used basic red heart super saver worsted weight) and i'd make it bigger.  i also made some changes to the original pattern.  i'm happy to link to the pattern if you want, and list my changes here.  just let me know.  don't want to bore anyone.

this is the pattern from lion brand yarn.  i only made a few changes.  one, i stuffed the head and crocheted it closed when i started the blanket. when i finished the first row of the blanket part, which is where i crocheted the head closed, i switched to a larger hook (i think i went up 2 sizes) which made the blanket part much softer, and worked it it faster.  the only thing is that i didn't consider that i would need to add stitches to the arms to make them knot-able.  so i had to stitch them into a knot.  because they were too short to be tied.  another thing was that i made it into a cat.  because my boss is all about cats.  not so much about bunnies  :wink5:

also, i made mine with red heart yard because they didn't have an appropriate color in lion brand where i was.

the final think i did was to use the purple for one strand of the edging to make it less "blah" and more baby-ish.  fair warning, it is a lot smaller than i thought it would be.  but has been well received by all who have seen it.  i'll let y'all know when the recipient gets it (next time his wife comes in to the office, so they can get it together).

well, i have 2 more concurrent projects going.

one is a throw/afghan for a wedding present.  it is getting heavy and large, so i've started a more portable project for carrying in the car with me.  that is a baby blanket for one of ellie's friends who is pregnant and has no one who will crochet for her.

the afghan (a bit more than half done)

and the baby blanket (really just started)

I wish I could do "patterns" like that. I love the colors in the baby blanket! :grinnnn:

Those are 2 beautiful afghans.  I love the all white one - the stitches look beautiful and it looks light and airy but cozy.

She is great! She reminds me of the starched ones my family use to hang on the tree.

thank you tina and sarah.  sarah, she will be starched.  i haven't had time to starch her yet though.  i taped her to a piece of paper to take the pictue  but will starch her later.  i want to do a couple and starch them all at the same time.

They have better spray stiffeners at fabric shops that aren't as affected by humidity as starch, Jenn.
