« on: Oct 23, 2009, 03:01:13 PM »
Someone mentioned making molasses cookies. I think it was Triss. My point is, does anyone have a good recipe for molasses cookies?

3/4 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup molasses

1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp clove
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

2 cups flour

Beat butter, sugar, and molasses very well. Add egg, soda, spices and salt, mix in flour.

Chill until firm.

Preheat oven to 350*. Roll dough into a ball, then roll in white sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, bake for roughly 8 minutes, more for crisper cookies. Careful not to overbake!

I have to at the very least double this recipe, the cookies are that popular!

This sounds good Aunt Bonnie.  When are you making some?

Thanks Sarah, I'll be trying that real soon, Jim.

Sarah, can I use self rising flour and leave out the baking soda?

Bonnie, I think self rising flour may have too much baking soda in it, but I've never tried.
