Oh, that is cute. Is it going to be a Christmas gift? Put a little wooden spoon in that pocket and a mini whisk in the other.

It is a Christmas gift for the little girl she babysits. I love the spoon and whisk idea...I'll pass it on!

Oh, how cute, Sarah.

Tina, that is a great idea. :grinnnn:

I may have to try that for the grands. I am thinking big kid bib/apron here... :giggle:

A friend made some aprons for me one year and I filled the pockets with utensils.  They loved it.

Or if it is for art work and keeping clean then a few crayons and a chalk eraser or a paintbrush or something.

I agree. My better half went to college for fashion design and can make her own clothes and has had them in fashion shows locally. I can use a sewing machine myself but it has been a long time. LOL

I'm gearing up to do a quilt for my SIL.  They are having a baby and the shower is on Sunday.  This sunday.  I should probably get this quilt started.  It's called Hex and Star, it's a star set inside a hexagon although thankfully not very complicated.  I'd better get a move on!

It is time, Sarah. You have to quit clowning around with houses and subbing and GS and PTA and get your nose to the grindstone! :grinnnn:

We I guess I can include myself in this thread now that I've started the quilting project.

Does anyone remember the aprons that used to be little frilly things that tied around the waist?  Those were so feminine and sweet, not so functional though.

I've been tempted to try and make myself some.  But since I didn't sew I never did it.  Maybe now I will.  It's a thought anyway.

I work tomorrow morning but will have the afternoon off, so I can really get this quilt going.  I think I have around 95% of the piece cut out, I just need to lay it all out and see what is actually there.  If I could find my rotary cutter, it would have been about a half hour worth of work but without it, I spent 4 hours cutting.

Did I mention SIL wants one of the primary colors in the quilt gray??  Talk about a pain in the butt.  They just don't make pretty gray fabric.  I settled on 3 different tones of mottled grays for the background and then a slow rainbow-gradient of colors in the stars.  No, I couldn't do all the stars the same color nor could I have randomly colored stars.  Huh-uh. :smileyNo:  I've got to make things just a smidge harder for myself.  Hoping, hoping, hoping to get the bulk of this sewn together tomorrow...  :stars:

wow you are a speedy demon.  I'm lucky to cut out a couple of pieces with a rotary cutter and then sew them together.  And your talking about going through an entire quilt top in next to no time.  Good for you.

It's just a baby quilt, so nothing too big.  I'm going to lay it out tonight and see how everything looks.

Yes, I plan on posting pics.  I actually had about 75% of the quilt laid out on the floor last night - took me about 2 hours to get that much done - and was going to post a pic of it once I got it all laid out.  Then Adam came home, so I went to talk with him.  When I came back.  My cat had ROLLED in the pieces and attacked them.    :gahh: :laughmao:  He tried to start rubbing up against me, but he still has a piece stuck to his back.   :giggle:  So instead I spent 3.5 hours trying to figure out how to piece these things together and got myself 2 stars done.  They should go quicker now, though.

I got 10 stars done tonight.  So I'm up to 12 -- out of 35.  I'm thinking I'll take some fabric and paper to work and get them pinned together.  Might as well do something productive while on my few breaks!
