What a cool idea.  I never would have thought of that.  That will make it nice and thick.  Might help me fudge those curves too.

You might have to re-adjust your settings for different stitches on some machines.

I started a new project today.

I am making this bag.

But I misread the pattern and cut the material a little wrong so my bag is a little shorter... that is ok, it will still work...
Here is one side done although I have not ironed it yet.  I still have to pick up the fabric for the lining as well.  I think I am going to go with a solid green in the darkest shade of what I have in the green fabric.

Thanks!  They have these really cool sets of fabric at WM called Quick Cuts Stripes and Quick Cuts Fat Quarters that match up the material in a color scheme.  It really makes it easy to match the coordinating fabrics cuz they do it for you!

That is a very pretty combo. And shorter you won't lose small things so deep.

Thanks everyone.  I really love the colors.  Since I do not have the fabric I need for the lining, I will probably work up a couple more of them with different thicknesses of strips and then put them all together at once.

Here is a picture of the pillow I recovered.  The pattern is to subdued to show up with my picture taking skills.  But it's great.

What is the easiest way to turn around interfaced tubes?  Or is there an easy way?

These tubes are made from a piece of material that is 19 x 2 1/2 inches so they are pretty skinny and long.  They will be the handles of my bag.

I haven't done much of that with interfacing, Triss. When I have worked with heavy material I've sewn a shoestring or cord into a tube attached at one end to facilitate the turning. Kind of a pull and work it through kind of thing to turn.
Is it iron interfacing? How about pulling a 2 /14 inch slice through (after sewing and turning the fabric) and ironing? Or two for stiffer?
I just am not sure.

The string idea might just work.  I will try it on the next one.  I tell ya though, if I cannot find an easier way to do this, I will be making a different kind of handle for the next bag.

triss, i've used a wooden spoon handle to shove and then use as the push/pull.  works pretty good.  and some of them are pretty long.  metal barbeque skewers work to.

I like taking the fabric folding it in half ironing it and then folding each side in half so they meet at the middle fold.  Then top stitch each side.  It makes a nice handle and I don't have to try and turn the tube inside out.

I ended up using a safety pin.  The second handle worked up a lot faster than the first one.  Putting the whole thing together now... should be done soon.
