Our weather today:

Today: Rain. High 49F. Winds NE at 10 to 20 mph. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. Locally heavier rainfall possible.
Tonight: Cloudy with a drenching rain ending overnight. Low 37F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall may reach one inch.

My sister's weather:

Today: A few showers early becoming a steady rain for the afternoon. Some sleet may mix in. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s. Winds NE at 10 to 20 mph. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
Tonight: Windy with periods of rain and snow. Some sleet may mix in. Low 33F. Winds NNE at 15 to 25 mph.

I am glad that the weather gets better for her traveling coming this way. I will worry once she starts home... :wink5:

it's sleeting here.  Our new driveway is straight up.  Riding up our driveway is like being in an airplane when it first takes off and you have to put your head back on the headrest.  That's exactly what my driveway is like now.

Ugh. It got to 67 by 9 a.m. today. But it turned quick. By 2 p.m. it had dropped to 50. It's 49 now at 3:30. Gonna be cold this weekend.

And it was approaching 80 here today. But it looked a little like a rain possibility on Mon-Tues.

Wet, wet, and more wet. We are saturated here... ::)

Why is it always feast or famine? There is never a middle ground, is there? :giggle:

32 Degrees and 12 inches of snow.  Shadow won't go outside but he likes me to open the door so he can sniff the snow.  Bet you know how often I do that lol.

Isn't today winter solstice? From here on out every day will become a little bit longer as the sun moves a little further north. There is much to look forward to.
Today will remain cooler than it has been but we are not expecting rain.

We are to have a hard freeze tonight freezing or below from 11 p.m to 7 a.m. My Son in law is on his way over to drape a tarp over my well and filtering equipment and hang a light to keep things from freezing.

Here is what we are in for....

.. Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 9 PM this evening to
6 am CST Saturday...

The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect from 9 PM this evening
to 6 am CST Saturday.

* Timing... snow will begin late this afternoon into early this
evening... with accumulating snow most likely after 9 PM tonight.
The snow will continue through Friday night. Some sleet is also
possible from late Wednesday night into Thursday
afternoon... mainly in east central Minnesota and western
Wisconsin.

* Accumulations... significant amounts of snow will occur with
periods of heavy snow likely as the storm intensifies Thursday
afternoon into Friday. Snow amounts by Thursday morning of two
to five inches are expected. Total snowfall accumulations by
Saturday morning will likely exceed one foot in many
areas... with scattered totals in excess of 20 inches probable.
This event may become comparable to the Halloween snow storm of
1991.

* Surface visibility will be reduced as the event continues due to
increasing wind speeds and blowing snow... mainly in open rural
areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

You aren't planning on doing any traveling, are you, Jessica? :scaredy:

I would add blankets and sleeping bags to that list. And kitty litter and/or sand for traction in case you get stuck... :wink5:

We are waiting to see what happens.  We would like to go to my parent's tomorrow (we always go there Christmas Eve) but they live 20 miles away so we will have to see.  If we go, we will go earlier in the day than normal before it gets too bad and definitely be home before dark.  Then on Christmas afternoon, we typically head to James' parent's which is 15 miles away.  We are not sure if we will make it to anything.  It is just a waiting game at this point.  We always keep warm clothes in the car.  Kitty litter is a good idea though.  We do have 4WD  but that doesn't always get you out of a ditch.

All of you be safe!. We are sitting at 62 right now. Got up to 68 today. Got rain and wind coming in tomorrow and up to 68 predicted. Rain should be out before dawn on Christmas day, then it's supposed to be cold again.

That's about the same forecast that they are saying for us.  I think the temps are a bit lower though.  Maybe the mid 50s and then back down below freezing on Sunday morning.  I have had the pool pump on the timer for the last week.  Looks like I can give it a rest after tonight.
