Why do ghosts disappear?
« on: Dec 31, 2009, 10:45:21 AM »
or spirits or whatever they are come and go?  Better yet, where do they go?  After seeing the sort of scary figure a few weeks ago I didn't see anything until this week and it's the other people that live here.  Not the scary guy.  Where have they been?  Did the scary guy run them off?

You are actually seeing the spirits?  I think my ex is hanging around here which is weird since he never lived in this house. But I haven't actually seen anything. It's based on my dogs' behavior.

To answer you, I don't know where they go. Maybe the scary guy did run the others off. But where did the scary guy come from? Had you ever seen him before?

I saw the scary guy a time or two and now he's gone I guess.  I'd never seen him before.

I get my ex's mail and he's never stepped foot in this house.  Ex's are strange appendages.

do you think spirits or ghosts go into hiding when there's a lot of commotion in their house say like at Christmas?

I think the scary figure must be a bad spirit, Sheri, and the other spirits realize that and don't want anything to do with him. Sort of like how we living people will avoid someone who is bad. :wink5:

As for them going into hiding during "events", it is possible. Or they may still be hanging around watching the festivities, but they aren't as noticeable... :grinnnn:

I've read lots of reports where house renovations cause spirits to appear. I am wondering if your new stairs are stirring things up around there...

we actually haven't seen anyone hanging around lately.  I wonder where they went.  I wish they'd tell me.  Do they visit other houses?

I have a new friend in the house.  It is a man but built differently than the scary man.  He's shorter than the scary man and stockier, broad shoulders.   He's like the scary man in that I get to see a fuller figure of him rather than just the fly by spirit thing.

that's cool sheri.  i wonder where he came from and why? or if he is the fly by guy, who just decided if the scary guy didn't run you off, you were going to stay and he'd come out to play?

Sheri, you need to hang your camera around your neck. :grinnnn: Have you tried capturing EVP yet?

What is EVP again?  Our house was built in 1928 and we don't have a problem with the ghosts or whatever they are being here.  I thought they were house or building specific.  Do ghosts travel from house to house?

Do you know the history of the house at all Sheri?

That might help some if you knew, for instance, has anyone passed away in your house?

Not much history.  It was built in 1928 and was the main house on a farm that owned at least 100 acres.  When they died the kids (lazy and greedy I suspect) started selling off the land.  There's a pond way in the back that is on someone elses land and we've run into people who've told us they used to play with the kids and fish and swim in the pond.  We've also had people tell us they rode horses all over our property.  At some point a Robert Gulledge and his wife  Mary lived there, don't know about any children.  I've heard that Robert may be in a nursing home and we got some mail from a doctors office for Mary one time that made me think she must have had breast cancer.  We heard that the last person to live there was a weird man, maybe a school teacher, who people called the pecan man because he sold the pecans out of the pecan orchard.  We think he also kept goats in the house.  No one seems to know what happened to him.  We can't even get a for sure name on him.  The house had been empty for 18 months when we bought it.  Maybe he died there.  What used to be interesting to us is that every where (in Monroe) we went people would say "you live in the  yellow house don't you".  We wonder how they know.  People will say to me "oh you've cut down a tree"  or "planted a rose bush".  I don't know how people watch our house from the highway.  It's classified as the most dangerous road in NC and when I'm driving on 601 I'm scared to death to take my eyes off the road.

At some point in time whoever lived there loved flowers.  The grounds were covered with years of leaves and limbs when we moved in but as we've cleared we've found rocked off flower beds and all types of shrubs, even fig trees.  The field is full of different types of daffodils.  Come to think of it I think someone told me once that she used to buy plants at our house.

I called city hall to see if I could find any info but there was none.

maybe.  I've never heard anything strange about the land.  It was one time farmed, had horses and maybe cattle.  Someone sure did some nice landscaping and planted flowers.  Seems like it's good land.
