Garden Wish List
« on: Feb 09, 2010, 11:07:57 AM »
I can't put it off any longer.  I've got to start planning what's going to happen this year in the garden.  Or at least what I wish would happen.

I'm thinking I want the 10 ft long railroad ties for the right side of the driveway as I look at the house.  Enough of them to create "step gardens" from the end of the fence to the turnout for the cars.

I want everything weeded at one time.

I want retaining circles around the fruit trees.

I want the compost finished so I can spread it around.

I want to clear out the underbrush from the wooded area.

I want the litter cleared out from the wooded area.

I want the old pickup truck bed taken to the dump.

So what does your wish list look like for 2010?

Speaking of compost.  My compost pen was gigantic until it was turned.  It's amazing how that stuff breaks down into almost nothing - nothing but good dirt of course but I won't have near enough.  Never do.

Why do you want retaining circles around your fruit trees?

Not trying to be bossy and I know you already know this, but you need to get out there and clear out the underbrush as soon as you can.  That's my plan.  Once it grows up it's a mess.

I want to get my garden sites ready early this year.

I want to clean out some underbrush.

I want to chain saw down some scraggly tree starts that have popped up everywhere with all this rain.

I want to clean out the sprigs and vines from around our fruit trees.

As soon as it's warm enough I want to plant 9 holly trees along the front of the house.

I want to have enough money to hire someone to do all the hardest stuff. :yay_jump:

I have cleaned out the underbrush and stayed on top of it (I am very lucky weather-wise in this).
I have stayed on top of the weeds.
I planted seeds in fall and again in mid winter for spring and summer blooms (I hope)
I want to finish chain sawing the deadwood off of my hillside.
I want to plant, plant, plant (mostly flowers)

I know you've worked hard to get where you are Tina.  Just playing around a little.

I remember the list of stuff you received to plant.  Busy.

It always feels nice too when we can accomplish some off our list too.

I need to clean out the underbrush once and for all.
I need to take out some very young trees (2" to 4" inch diameter)
I need to prune the Magnolia off the neighbors roof (its not there yet but will be if not pruned)
And I need to do something about the washout my driveway, the dogs' yard and parts of the front become every time it rains. What I don't yet know.
Oh, and get some sort of structure over my well and filter tanks.

None of this will get done without much help, which based on recent history, I will probably have to hire.

Guess I better win that lottery (gotta play to win. lol)
Dear Lord, On this day, please wrap your arm around my shoulder and keep your hand over my mouth.  Amen

I only want one thing... a yard to have a garden!

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

I want to add to my wish list because it is a wish.
I want to fill more sand bags to redo the ones that are splitting and breaking.
I want to re-dig my ditches so they work even better. They have collected more sand and  debris than I would like to see.
I want to redo my own water supply. It has become decrepit and no longer works. I would love to have the waterfalls back in my back yard.
I want to redo my whole water system because some of it is an aging system.
I want my firewood split and stacked in the wood shed for the next two years.
(In my mind I had all of this done by the one year anniversary of John's death but that is approaching, May 7th, and I am not even half done)

Oh to have all my fire wood in one pile, that would be nice.

And an irrigation system that would be super lovely.

I want to paint my shed.
Make my veggie garden larger.
Clean up some over-grown shrubs.
Divide and move some perennials.
I want a small greenhouse
...and I want some nice summer weather to add to my wish list.
