When I WANT to eat sour cream and onion chips, instead of eating this version:

Why?

Here's the ingredient list for the first:



Potatoes, Sunflower Oil, Sour Cream & Onion Seasoning (Nonfat Milk Solids, less than 2% of the Following: Maltodextrin, Onion Powder, Whey, Salt, Sour Cream [Cream, Nonfat Milk, Cultures], Dextrose, Monosodium Glutamate, Palm Oil, Parsley, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil, Lactose, Whey Protein Isolate, Buttermilk Solids, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Lactic Acid), and Salt.



And for the second:

Select potatoes cooked in peanut oil or a blend of peanut oil and canola, corn, safflower or sunflower oil, dextrose, salt, onion powder, whey protein, nonfat milk, sour cream, cultured nonfat milk, corn flour, natural flavors, dehydrated parsley, garlic powder, cultured whey, evaporated cane juice, lactic acid, citrus acid, and sodium citrate.

Well, my first thought is 'ick! canola oil'. It really does a job on me. There is no msg in yours though.
I have whey protein as a supplement. John was given it for a nutrition boost when he was doing chemo. Is there good whey and bad whey?

I hate that they use canola...but, if I'm gonna be "bad" I might as well be a better "bad".

In the second, there is also no hydrogenated oils. A very good thing. Avoid those at all costs.

Whey is very good. The less processed, the better, but we can't be good all the time.

But I was thinking I saw whey as a not so good ingredient on some of your links. I know some was about using whey left from making cheeses or something.
Where does corn oil fall in the hydrogenated oils list? Way down?

Corn oil is a huge no-no. Corn, in most any form, really...

Everything I've seen on whey is good. That's how they lacto-ferment things. Now, commercial whey may be another story. unsure

Maybe it was about the way it was made. Most whey supplements are from soybeans.

GMO corn is the main problem, although your body can't really break down corn, period. That will NEVER stop me from eating corn on the cob...

I can see where that would be a problem...never thought of that.  SlapSelf

I was on a site somewhere where people were putting down growing with messing with genes. I pointed out that we have been modifying our food for centuries. When we came across a clump of wheat with fatter fuller grains we kept planting those for plumper, fatter. The same with peas, fruit and veges, livestock. That is also meddling with genetics.
I am sure that a lot of what agricultural science is doing these days is not so good for us. But I hope they find good modifications that don't take out or alter what is already good for us. I like having unaltered options.
Is ground corn, corn meal and such also indigestible, Sarah? And it isn't that all of corn is not digestible, just parts of it, right?

Selective breeding is wise...genetically modifying crops so that you may spray them with roundup killing them is scary. I included links in the other thread...if you start there are read from there, they more clearly explain it than I.

As far as I recall, the only way we can properly digest corn is if it is soaked in lime water...sound familiar? Yeah...the spanish and south americans have done it all along.  ThumbUp
