I have been trying to avoid them as much as possible but like Tina, I haven't fully given up soda (I would call it pop
) but I have cut back on it.

The 'sodas' I call it all coke. I buy all types of colas depending on prices. So RC most but Coke and Pepsi at other times. Ted drinks the bulk of it in this house. I cut way back and so did Jonni. I am averaging one a day.

How can something that says 100% fruit juice in fairly large letters on the front get away with having high fructose corn syrup in tiny letters on the ingredients list, the second item listed?

that is a good question. i've been hearing on the radio the last few days that kids actually prefer the 10% juice that doesn't have hfcs in it over the 100% juice that does.

A very nice list in a way to make it readable and maybe doable.

A lot of this is not what the general medical population are promoting, Dianna. You are going to get contrary info from your doctors.

I have decided that I am not going to tell my doctors about my diet. They discourage me and want to give me more pills. I think I am taking enough, as it is now...

dianna, i told my doctors that my diet was part of my stress relief and that there were some meds that the side effects out weighed the benefits in my mind. they are working with me within my limits. and believe me, i have set mine.

While I understand the "eww" factor, traditional cheeses are all made with "aged" milk. Now, I wouldn't use milk that's been exposed to human saliva, for a number of reasons...but...

I would do the same. Sadly, very little nutrition is taught in med school, and even that is usually sponsored by a company with an agenda.
Do some reading, and I'm sure you can find a way of eating that you can feel good about.

and there is why i wouldn't use the milk out of the sippy cup. aged, i get. but in the car over night? after a toddler drank out of it? ewwww.....
i should add that 9 months out of the year, here, in the car means exposed to temps that are not good for aging...

We managed to get 12 quarts of local honey, not even lightly heated during processing. It's some amazing stuff!

Ok, it is not the sweetening we object to so much as the way it is manufactured, right? I read so much when I first began that I am getting reasons for deleting mixed up.
