Pear tree [Solved]
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:57:38 PM »
So we have this large tree in the backyard that appears to be a fruit tree... I am REALLY hoping a pear tree based on what the fruit is starting to look like.   But of course I have no idea if it is or what kind...

The tree

The flowers and fruit

That would be my guess Triss, is there a neighbor that you could ask to be sure?

The one I asked was not sure.  I know I will find out for sure as they grow but it would be nice to know sooner.  I also think that there are other fruit trees on the property... I sure hope so anyway.

Yes, I am very excited about having a pear tree.  How many varieties of pear are there I wonder?

There are about 30 primary species, major subspecies, and naturally occurring interspecific hybrids of pears.
