The square one is quite large. Thank you for the comparison.

I like that comparison as well.  I never made circle washcloths.  Will have to get some cotton yarn and try it.

triss, that pattern is easy.  i altered it a little (i always do) but basically it is 9 singles in a magic ring, the w/o joining, 2 dhc in each single.  next round is 2 dhc in the first of each pair, the a dhc in the next, then a ch.  then start again for the pair.  around, then you increase by that pair in the beginning dhc of each set.  it marks itself after the second round, making it so easy.  the "real" pattern is on lion brand.

When I used the cotton yarn I found that the washclothes stretched which left me with cloths that were really to large.  Did you ever have that problem?

I've never had the problem of stretching.    Mine usually shrink up a little.  When my hand is better I'm going to make a few.  I just realized that I KNIT rather than CROCHET mine.  I think I crocheted some in the past but the last ones I knitted.

Do those clothes work well? I could manage to crochet some, but I tried knitting and it felt like I had ten thumbs. I just couldn't get the hang of holding the needles.
This is me ->?

They are great dish clothes, Bonnie.  Just make sure you use cotton yarn.  It works best.

so i took a picture of the blanket in progress.  it isn't a very good picture, but it is better than none.  you can't see the colors so well, but it is white with a variegation of blue/green alternating through it.

Are the blues/greens the colors they are thinking of or something she liked at the moment?

i think more just what is striking her fancy right now.  they aren't really going to do a true nursery.  i don't think.  but she really liked the muted green and blue, and they aren't really baby colors exactly.  the picture does not do justice.  i'm going to try to get a better one tomorrow with my camera

Well that gives me a bit of an idea though it is harder for me to make a baby blanket not knowing if a boy or girl is on the way.  I have to look at yarns soon.

ok, here is a better pictures, one that shows the colors more true.

and, i have been told that they are doing a nursery after all.  and, we won't know the sex until july :razberrry: because the 16 week ultrasound is not as reliable.  and they don't want to pay for 2.  so they will wait.  which means we will wait :waiting:  oh well, much better than the 9+ months some of us waited :giggle:

As the recipient's mother picked out the colors, I think it will be good.

yes, we are going to edge it with white, to make it even more neutral.  unless of course, she discovers it is a boy before i get that far :giggle:  although, we are all hoping for a girl.  my son in law made a very astute observation.  he said "i hope we have girls.  since we are both so small.  it is hard to be a small man in this world and i don't want my child to go through that.  i'd rather have girls, it is much easier for them"
