Bean Bag Tutorial
« on: Jul 10, 2010, 09:33:07 PM »
Here goes.... Lys and I made a bean bag chair.  I got this wonderful material from my SIL Joyce who originally sent it to my SIL Becky but she did not have a use for it.

We undid the roll and cut out 4 equal sized pieces and then cut them up.  Mind you, I did not measure or use a pattern at all.  It was really out of my head.  The top two pieces are the sides, the large square is the bottom and the smaller square is the top.

We sewed together the sides.  Lys did all of this work.

And then we sewed all 4 sides together.

I sewed on the bottom.

And the top leaving one side open.

The empty bean bag chair which is hanging on a door handle to give you an idea of how large it is.

This bag of beans is ready to go inside the chair.  It only took one bag to fill the chair.

We did spill a few beans so the kids were cleaning up.

Lys tested the bag to see if we needed more or less beans while I held the top closed.

And the completed chair.  Total cost... $17.00 for the beans and upholstery thread, a couple of hours time, and one needle for my sewing machine.

It is a perfect fit.

Nice job. And without a pattern even!. I really like that material too.

Lys is getting big! She's learning from a great teacher!

Thanks Barb!  We will end up making one more with the purple side out, and then the last two with the browner side out.

Those look great, Triss!  And Lys is really starting to turn into the "a" word (adult).

Yes she has Sarah, and she acts the part often.  There are many, many days that I miss my baby girl.
