Nasty weather!

It feel like winter here with some cloud cover and wind.  Sure does not feel like the middle of July.

How come when you guys get heat indexes of 110 you get high heat warnings, but we don't???

Today's high - 100° with a heat index of 120°. The rain never materialized. Maybe tomorrow.

Our news gives us heat warnings. They also flash during daytime programming to check on elderly neighbors and pets.

Our local guys give us all the usual "advice" about staying hydrated and try not to be out at the hottest part of the day, and checking on elderly and ill, and keeping pets indoors, etc etc... but we get no "official" heat advisories.. I guess they think we are just used to it, that it's the norm for us. Which it is to some point, but usually we aren't getting these types of temps until august. We've been getting them for weeks now. It's making up for us have wonderful spring temps for longer than norm I guess. It's ok for me though. I enjoyed the long spring and I actually enjoy the warm temps as long as I don't have to work in it.  BigGrin

We get them here too but at a lot lower temps than you guys.  People here do not handle it well when we start hitting 90 and above.

No, not many at all.  Some do not have any form of cooler but most only have a heat pump unit.  No swamp coolers here either, at least not any I have seen.

Currently here at home it is 97 with heat index of 116 (57% humidity).  I checked real quick at work earlier and the actual temp at 11 a.m. was 103 with a heat index of 118. Had a surprise rain shower go through there at about 3 and its now cooled down to 95 with a heat index of 114 (58% humidity). In other words.. HOT. lol

Our rain predictions have deminished greatly with Bonnie petering out. We are to still get lots of rain but will not be a total washout this weekend. Hopefully we'll get enough to help keep the temps down. It's currently 81° with a heat index of 89° and heating up fast.

All you east coasters stay cool and hydrated. They were showing on the news where you will be in the 100s without a heat index.

We got some pretty strong thunderstorms late last night.  Power went out for a bit.  We got 2" of rain.  It is sunny now and supposed to be a high of 80.  Sounds like a good day.

It's currently 90 with a heat index of 109. Not sure what the high was, but I honestly don't think its as hot as it has been recently. I have been out running around and not gotten over-heated, which I usually do when its that hot out. We haven't has but one small rain shower, and spotty cloudiness. Its been mostly sunny which was not expected.
