I have people coming over for dinner. I have a whole chicken thawing. I have the ability to rotate it (rotisserie), but I need a good rub/seasoning that does not involve sugar (company is diabetic) and preferably not real spicy.  I also have a crock pot if anyone has a recipe for that.  The idea is that I don't want to be slaving over the chicken as I will be trying to get many things done tomorrow to get ready for my trip.

Any suggestions?

I like chicken with garlic and onion powder, paprika, and rosemary.

I will tuck a chicken in a crock with a whole onion in the cavity. Then carrots and taters around and maybe additional onion. That is usually good for flavoring  for me.

hmmm, options. I will have to see what I have. I know I have garlic powder and onion powder. None of my seasonings are mixed with salt. I don't generally cook with salt.  There will be no taters. The male half of this couple was just diagnosed with diabetes last week with a glucose level of 500.  yikes  Sides will be cole slaw, green salad, and green beans.

Ooohh.. crispy skin! yes!  I'm thinking a little salt, paprika, onion powder, thyme, black pepper and garlic is sounding good. I like the idea of putting an onion inside too. If I do that would I omit the onion powder?

No, Don't omit the onion powder. That onion will flavor the meat from the inside as the powder does its thing from the outside. It shouldn't be too much onion at all.

I made one not too long ago with lemon and onion stuffed isn the cavity.  It was good.  The lemon keeps it moist.

OK, I cheated. Got too much to do today. I ran down to WinnDixie and got a couple of thiers already done. I will still do the sides.

You will probably bring home laundry. Your dog yard will grow while you are gone. Your dogs will be very happy to see you and show you in ways you'd rather they didn't. Or conversely, they will be ticked at you for leaving them and show you in ways you'd rather they didn't. You need to unpack your car. Then put all of that stuff away.
It is a good thing your house is clean because you're gonna be exhausted!. Sometimes you need a vacation from a vacation.
I am teasing you here. I do understand what you are aiming for. And it is much like I set goals for myself and reward myself with something I really want to do when those are accomplished. One of my rewards will be to travel. But the to-do list for that is pretty long.

You're right about all that, but if the house itself is clean, I won't have to worry about it. I'm hoping one of my kids will take mercy and at least cut the dogs' yard before I get home. There will definately be laundry as I am not washing ALL of it. If it ain't going with me, I ain't washing it. Whis

Funny how, the closer it gets, the more I cut off my to do list  giggle

That is called realizing your limits, Barb. And that is a very good thing. You left yourself time on the flip side to complete tasks not done while you are away. You will be fine. I hope it is all the fun and relaxation you could hope for.
