I saw that on the news last night. I'm thinking why don't you avoid watermelon or other melons? What about cukes and tomatoes?

Years ago I used to subscribe to Readers Digest and there was a true story about a divorced woman who had struggled with doctors for over a  year, loosing her job due to time out of work, because her son had become short of breath.  She kept telling the doctors she had seen him aspirate a nut - only she thought it was only the shell.  They did tests, didn't find anything, tried all sorts of medicines and her son kept getting worse.  She did research and kept begging for a bronchoscopy - which she eventually got but it was negative.  She begged for a lavage or another scope and the doctors wouldn't do it because the insurance wouldn't pay for it.  She kept telling them she knew what she had seen.  Eventually a doctor did another scope and TaDa the nut had taken root in his lung.

Wow.  My son aspirated a piece of steak when he was little. Sure glad he didn't start growing a cow in his lung.  giggle

Seriously Sheri... I just cannot imagine a pea or anything growing in that environment.

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't read it in Reader's Digest.  Maybe they didn't mean growing by "taken root".  Maybe roots had formed because of the moisture but it really wasn't growing a plant.
