i was thinking that i need to get my sewing machine set up.  i have blankets that need the binding repaired/replaced, and other sewing to do.  i hate sewing anything that i run the risk of missing one side though.

Well then baste the silly thing first would be my suggestion.  Probably with one of the adhesives.  I'm considering unpinning mine and doing that to the top so I don't have all the problems.  That bottom is ugly.

that's funny tammy.

what granny always did was sew one side with a straight line, then go back over them both with a zigzag.  it just depends on my mood, and if it is something i think someone else might see.

That's a good idea.  My top stitching isn't perfect but it's better than the mess I made.  Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

Anyone have a backside kicker I can borrow.  I really need a kick in the pants to get me going.  I'll tell you I'm going back to one project at a time.  I can not handle multiple projects.  Nothing is getting done on all of them.

I'm not sure where I put the boot topper project but I can tell you I have enough binding for 5 edges  so I have enough.  For some reason I was thinking I needed 8, go figure.  I used to be able to figure things out.  Not so much anymore.

So I can put the edging on the top and bottom whoopie.  Maybe I'll do that next.  Or the dreaded dishes,...duh tah duh (dirge, slow march timming.)

I'm going to sew the blanket, I'm going to sew the blanket, I'm going to sew the blanket, [sneeeeeeeewze].  Sometimes hypnotism just puts me to sleep.

I did it!  I have sewn the blanket.  It is now folded and on the quilt rack.  Which is where I keep all my blankets, quilts, and bedspreads since it has multiple rungs.  I'm a happy camper on this one.  Not to say it's perfect because it isn't even close, but it is done!

One boot topper is done, it looks great!  Now I'm afraid to do the second one because it may not look as good.  lol.  Isn't that the way it goes?

Second topper is done.  I need to decrease the width at the top because the elastic didn't bunch it together as much as I thought it would.  But other than that, I like them and they cover up the cracking faux leather on the boots.  Now since I had to buy 1/2 yard to get enough running in the right direction for this project I have a great deal left over.  I'm thinking of getting some cheap faux leather brown gloves to match the boots and then sewing fun cuffs on them with some of the left over.  Then I'm thinking of taking the muff I made last year and increasing it's width with the rest of the fur.  I like matchy matchy what can I say?

Then repeating the process with the brown faux fur although not another set of gloves.  There are only so many pairs of gloves that I can handle lol.

kate called me, wanted me to "help" her make a costume for zoe.  "it's just a simple a-line dress"  sure... "oh by the way, i didn't buy a pattern, really, how hard can it be?"

here are the photos... if you sew, you know how hard it was, especially without a pattern.  it was easier though than it would have been.  i did all the cutting and pinning, and just passed pieces to kate to sew.  i made sure she knew what she was sewing and when and why.  i think it turned out cute.  and, it could be worn again next year.  this year, the accessories will be for it to be rainbow brite.  next year, maybe it will be snow white.  or alice in wonderland.

when we were finished, 8 hours after starting, kate said "now i know why things cost so much!!"  i didn't tell that in factories, they are cut by dies, sewn in pieces (one person does sleeves or maybe only right sleeves, etc...) but she did get an appreciation for all the sewing i did through the years.

And it looks good too. I have sewn many things without a pattern,  mostly because I either could not afford or find one I needed. You did good.

ok, big news in the sewing world, i got a new machine for christmas.  no, it isn't even out of the box yet, but i'm pretty excited.

i am working on a project for zoe though.  a stuffed animal.  here is the photo of the animal that i am making... or what it is supposed to look like, anyway,

and a picture of the front cut out and the face with the eyes and nose.  no stripes yet, and no mouth or whiskers.  those are coming though.

Are you doing just the little blue guy, or the whole thing? Just the little blue guy would be difficult enough for me. You have a pattern? Or making it yourself?
