Dwarf Fruit Cocktail Trees

We got our first seed catalog today. It was from Burgess. Anyone do any business with them?

I am looking at a dwarf fruit cocktail tree and am wondering how they do when planted? Seems like a good buy for nectarines, peaches, plums, and apricots all on one tree. Almost too good to be true, even. Have any of you tried to grow one?

Those are close cousins usually grafted onto one basic tree. So you have a branch of this and another branch of that. Keep in mind a dwarf is a relative term. They can still get pretty big, like 20 ft plus if not kept trimmed.
My main experience has been with grafted citrus trees where you have grapefruit, lemons and oranges on one tree. The grapefruit 'arm' often breaks off after a fruiting season or two if it is a grafted branch just because of the weight. And you can be pretty happy if it does because grapefruit are spiny branches and killers to walk by.
I am trying to remember if I've ever dealt with stone fruit multi-fruit trees personally. I just don't remember.
Burgess is a good basic company. I have purchased from them many times. You will receive juvenile trees that you have to baby along. Does your zone usually grow a lot of their own peaches, plums, etc? Or are you thinking indoor/outdoor potted?

Our area (zone eight) grows peaches, Tina. I am thinking it should be suitable for the other? I love grapefruit. I may have to look for that in a tree...

I got one from burgess.  It was about 18 inches long and looked like a stick with one tiny root dangling off of it.  But I soaked it in water as directed and planted it and it leafed out without a problem.  Unfortunately I moved so I don't know how the tree did later on.  The nicest thing about burgess was that they did replacement plants for those plants that didn't make it.

Dianna I think you might have problems growing grapefruit but you can plums.

i want to get some fruit trees going here, but that isn't happening yet.

I took the prunings from this winter and put them in the ground.  I don't know how they will do but if they grow maybe I could send you one to get you started.
