I put out lettuce, radishes and some green peas today.  Hope it's not too early.

I can't put out lettuce yet but I've got it sitting out so that the first spring planting day I'm right there.

Congrats on getting those seeds in the ground.

I still haven't ordered my seed potatoes.  Gotta get on that.

Jim picked up some seed potatoes last weekend at Walmart. He is hoping to get them planted some time this week.

Maybe next year I'll put in a raised bed for potatoes.  It depends on if I have the money.  I'm still thinking that it is just as cheap as buying them at the store but that could change any day.  My friend was telling me that it's been reported that food prices will see another hike in the March, April time frame.

Food prices are going through the roof. And it is a worldwide thing. Sugar, coffee, etc have doubled in a few short months and the predictions are not nice.

It's not cost effective.  I just love digging potatoes out of my own garden.

I can understand that, I love playing in the dirt.

Today I went looking for information on romaine lettuce.  I've never quite gotten it right with lettuce.  So what I found out was that I needed a minimum soil temperature of 40 F to plant and that I would be good until the soil temperature reached about 80 F.  So I'm planning to plant around the 15th of march for my romaine.

This is exciting stuff for me.  i do love romaine lettuce.

I haven't read this topic in a while.  I am jealous of everything some of you are doing in your gardens already.  I look out my window to 3' of snow on the ground. :(  I have to wait to get spring fever. :giggle:

I don't have daffodils either. :(  But only because my grandbabies wanted them for their mother... :grinnnn:

Dianna, that's really sweet.  I love it when the children bring me flowers even when it's dandelions out of the yard.

I've got daffodil buds but no blooms yet.  I did bloom boost them last week just to be sure they had all the nutrients they need.  I can't wait to see some color out there.  I also want to see bees and butterflies.  Hand polinating is for the birds.

Got the potatoes planted yesterday.  Two short rows where we had the sunflowers last year.  Gotta look for a new spot for the sunflowers.

WTG Jim.  I'm sure you won't have any problem with finding a new space for the sunflowers.  You've got a fair piece of property there.

No daffodils.  Nothing green in sight.  It will be quite some time before we see anything green.

That means I'll definitely have to get out that and snap a picture so I can share my flowers with you.

happiness is...

The peppers have sprouted so the heating mat worked for sprouting them.  And one tomato seed has sprouted.  Now just cross your fingers I don't loose them to damp off disease.

Ok, I need to keep up with my schedule here...March 4th the second third of the radishes go in the ground.  I had to look all over for the post that mentioned when I had put the first bunch of radishes in the ground.  But I found it so now I just have to keep track of this post and I'll know when to plant again.  Wait a minute there is a calendar around here somewhere right?
