Your going to laugh at me.  How do I finish the last cast off stitch please?  It's hanging there on the hook saying ..."now what?"

Figured it out.  I cut the yarn and then pulled it through the last stitch.  It closed up like it was born to it.  Perfect end.  I liked that.  I was scared when I did it because I was afraid it might unravel on me.

Well so far I've finished the front and I'm up to the increase below the armhole on the back.  So it's comming right along.  At this speed I might be done with it by spring.  Just when I would normally be putting the winter clothes away.  Maybe when I'm finished I should wrap it as a Christmas present for me next year lol.

It sounds like a good idea to me too.  Just as long as I don't put it away and forget where I put it.

Ok I did all the increasing and decreasing on the armhole.  now I just have to shape the back of the neckline at the appropriate place and I'll be done with the back.  Maybe a day or twos work.  I'm thinking I'll have enough yarn that I can do a small lambchop sleeve.  I do love those with a long cuff.

Ok I'm up to the neck line and it's time to add another needle.

Do they have little caps for the point of the needles when you have a part of a project just hanging around?  I ask because I'm using metal needles and I'm afraid of the stitches falling off of the needle while I'm paying attention to the part I'm working on.  If so what are they called and where do i get them?

yes, they do.  they look like dummy plastic bullets, but they are more rubbery.  however, a cheaper alternative (i learned at the yarn shop) is to get a package of the foam "beads" that they sell for kids to make necklaces out of.  the holes are small enough to fit the smallest of needles, and the foam expands for larger ones.

if you can't find the beads, the end caps for needles are available at places like ac moore and michael's as well as yarn specialty stores.  another alternative i have seen used is corks.  like from wine bottles, or fishing stores.

Thank you for the heads up.  I definitely am going to add those to my shoping list.

I finished the back.  Now it's on to the sleeves.

I've got the shoulder gather done and am past the armhole.  So I'm moving right along.

i'm down to about elbow length and it's time to gather in the extra width and make the rest one long cuff in rib knit.  I haven't done rib knit for ages so it may take a couple of false starts before it's working good.  Cross your fingers for me.

I finished the first sleeve and have cast of the second sleeve.  It's starting to come right along which is good.  Because while I've been doing this one I've found several others that I want to do.  For not being a clothes hog I'm definitely finding the projects to do.

i'm just hoping this will fit.  I don't think I have another frogging in me.  I finished the second sleeve and made a mistake but I think I can fix it by adding some small panels on the sleeve from the armhole to the elbow.  We'll see.

Last night I started the collar.  I got to the part where I start decreasing.  Slow but steady wins the race right?  Fingers crossed this fits or I may have a hissy fit.  I may even go so far as to start following directions.

Here is a picture of the pieces.  I haven't finished the collar or added the rib knitting to the bottom of the front and back.  I wanted to know how much yarn I had left before I did those two pieces because I can fudge quite a bit depending on how much yarn I have left.  So far I have one crocheted sleeve to frog and a skein of yarn that I didn't touch the first time around.  So that's quite a bit for the rib knit.

That is very pretty, Tammy. And it looks so soft... :good2:

Thanks all.  I've got to bind off the bottom of the front and then sew it together.  Hopefully it fits.  Otherwise I'm going to have many many pairs of burgandy socks.

too small again.  I guess I need to follow a pattern and buy the circular needles.
