Ventured away from Windows
« on: Dec 24, 2011, 06:50:34 AM »
again to Ubuntu 11.10, really liking the new look a lot.

How the desktop looks.

I choose the background image because of the caption it had - Buck Off!

You might tell us what you like better compared to Windows or worse, as the case may be.  I remember you went to this OS one time before but came back.  Have they fixed what you didn't like before?

Actually was hoping they fixed the graphics card problems that I experienced with any Ubuntu release that I installed over the years, minimul setup now, and works decent enough to keep. Though I tried installing the lastest Nvidia driver and killed the OS. :giggle:

Well, matter of fact, just getting tired of Windows.

Most things I did with Windows can be done in Linux, with the exception of the notes program I was developing with visual basic, may someday develop in Linux.

Still using it, loving it too much. Sometime this year getting a newer computer*, mine is getting quite old, early 2000's.

* without a operating system and hardrive, also purchase a big flat screen again.

You should be able to get a good deal on a bare bones unit.  TigerDirect has some fantastic deals for bare bones units that include a massive hard drive.

Going for drives pretty much slows way down in fall, so that's the best time, hopefully.

Never been to tigerdirect before, thanks for pointing that out, definitely going to look into it.
