Fall Flowers
« on: Oct 11, 2012, 07:29:05 PM »
This is how I know it's fall.  This dainty camellia is the first to bloom every year.

I have 2 lemons growing.   Wonder if it's going to be warm enough for the lemons to ripen.  I over wintered this in my little greenhouse.

I stand corrected.  I just spoke to Johnny and he DID pay John.  He went by and paid him this morning.  I should have known.  I think Johnny has SUCKER tattooed on his forehead.

Will camellias grown in GA Jen.  I've never noticed any when I've been to Ginger's.

hey should. They do need acid food. We can grow small azaleas too. Just not rhodies. Those need more chilling than we can give them.

Only smaller azaleas will grow here. If we try bigger ones, they dry up faster than roots can suck up water.
I wish camellias smelled as good as they look.

For all  you living with the cold and snow here's what's growing in my yard today.  The clematis doesn't usually bloom in October.

Pretty. I really like the white one... :good2:

I have some purple clematis blooming now, too, Sheri. And some brugsmansias. I don't have pics yet, but I will try to remember to take some... :grinnnn:

I had one Brug bloom a few weeks ago, and now there are 6 bud on the tree. I have been waiting  patiently for them to bloom. I did not realize they were fall bloomers.

Brugs are not so much fall blooming as they are waiting for the best weather for each flush of blooms. And those often happen in full moon times.

"Roberta Red" azalea, but it looks more pink to me... :grinnnn:
