Smart thinking.  That's why we have everything on the driveway side of the house.  Because of the sunlight I had to put the lilac bush on the other side of the house and last year it bloomed and I didn't even know it. It blooms when it's too cool to be sitting on the screened in porch. I kept an eye out this year.

Thank you.  The lily got slaughtered by the rain right after I planted it.  Isn't that just the way it goes?

This is the first peony to bloom this year.  It is the white one that Penny gave me right after I moved here.  Thank you Penny.  I'm sorry I can't get better pictures.

duh, my peonies have bloomed too.  I have a red one and a white one.  The red one only had 5 blooms this year and that's it.  I cut them Monday and brought them in.  The white one has a few more blooms but not nearly as many as years past.  Guess it's the weather.  Do you like the smell?  I like the smell of roses much better.

I've never noticed that they had a smell.  I love the flowers, they are so full and wonderful to look at.

Do you scratch in bone meal as soon as the stems break ground every year?

That's cool. And it is a healthy plant.

It is pretty normal. really. If she does not feed it with acid food like for azaleas it will revert to all pink in  a year or so. It is aluminum sulphate to that helps the plant absorb the acid and stay blue. Long before it even buds.

i'll tell her to get it some food.  i've never had to feed mine before.  everywhere we've lived, due to the types of trees, they've always been blue.  to get them pink, you had to feed them.  it is a pretty plant though, and i liked seeing it.  it was tiny when she got it.

Mine are blue too but I like them when they're multi-color.  It's like a party.
