Yesterday I found the hornets nest, and bought the bug spray.  I was suppose to get out there first thing and spray it but I got side tracked so nothing happened.

You can get it done in the evening too, Tammy. They are not going anywhere until you make them.

well i sprayed the nest until it was dripping wet.  I hope that does it.  I'm waiting until tomorrow to pull it all down.

lets see I put in the fruit tree spikes.  I sprayed the veggies with a fertilizer.  I weeded one of the climbing roses.  I screened another 10 gallons of compost for spreading on the low spots in the lawn and around the weeded climbing rose.  So it's a good start.

I bought another pot of yellow asiatic lilies for beside the door, and 4 large pots of portulaca (moss roses) for around the bird bath.  They are assorted colors and look great.  Used up about another 15 gallons of compost around the bird bath.  It's shaping up very nicely.  I also cut some of the grass in the front.

It's so hot here even the petunias are scorching.  I've pulled up a few.  At first I thought they were diseased but that's not the case.  It's this blazing sun scorching them from the top.

they're getting out under, around, but not over a fence.  I told them today that my dog is going to eat them and they said they'd try to figure it out.

I'm seriously coming up with a plan to keep the chickens if they continue to come over.

The chickens were in the garden when I went out at 7:30 and just now too.  They've been there ALL day.  I've put Andy in his pen and opened the back gate.  If they come in that gate Andy's coming out.  Johnny says it's cruel and it is but I've talked to the gang and evidently they aren't interested in keeping them up.  I know if I pen them up to keep them they'll be over here and we'll have a war.  So this is the answer.

Yes, that is a way to deal with it if they won't.

Did I post that Johnny put up a fence?  Makes me mad that he spent the money to do that.  What's  more interesting is that since the fence went up the chickens haven't been back at all.  Makes me think the neighbors were intentionally  letting them into my garden.

I wonder Tina because I was out there yesterday and no sign of the chickens.  Is it a coincidence?  Did they just happen to fix their fence the day we put up our fence?  Did the chickens figure it out on their own and are looking for food elsewhere?  I haven't seen 1 chicken in our yard since we put up that fence.  Not in any part of the yard.  Whatever happened they're gone.

I hired a person of my acquaintance to weed my flower beds.  He said he knew how.  He dub up 5 miniature roses, the chives, lantana, miniature snapdragons, and all of the chocolate mint that was ready for harvest for mint jelly.  And it cost me 80 bucks and lunch.  I guess I should try to do these things on my own.

That is sad, Tammy. Did you get any of it back in the ground? I have had some hired help clean up 'too well' also. It is frustrating. I need to stay on top of them to make sure it is done well. And I hate to do that.

Oh gosh Tammy.  I hate that especially about the chocolate mint.  I too have had that happen.  One guy weed eated plants that had flowers right there for him to see.

yeppers the flowers didn't stop him at all.  i knew he was trying his best but you really know what your doing.  I don't even weed in the spring until I can tell the weeds from the seedling.s
